Bush can just "taste" the coming spilling of American and Iraqi blood....

Is that a "trick" question??? Perhaps they're asking that around the PENTAGON:rolleyes:  .

Here's the story. Al-Qaeda will view our massive killing of Iraqi ARABS as an assault upon ALL Arabs. I know that such a point may be tooooooooooo obscure for a War College, but even my DW believes it.:)

and BTW, the horror visited upon us on 9-11 did NOT come from WMD.........it was 19 hijackers and 2 planes full of fuel :( :( :( :( :( ..........

he doesn't............he wants to kill........and kill.........and kill.....

No, he doesn't. I don't know where you get this stuff from sometimes...

The fact that we have a President that is willing to do whatever is necessary to protect this country and our allies doesn't mean that he wants people to die. He realizes, of course, that people will die, but that is a long way from being the same as wanting it to happen.

Using your definition of wanting people to die, one would have to say that you want innocent Americans to die, because you are willing to sit back and wait for Hussein to provide WMD to terrorists to use against us here, in America.

Yep. Now think about how much worse it would have been, and still could be, if terrorists have access to Hussein's WMD...

C. ANN, prior to their forced departure from IRAQ in 1998, the U.N. Inspectors found TONS of biological and strategic weapons WHICH THEY DESTROYED. We didn't go around brandishing threat of annihilation then; of course, killer George wasn't the President.

I was WITH the Bush Administration AND the U.N. in stating that Saddam would face WAR if he refused to let the inspectors back in. However, they're back on the ground there NOW. Do I think that Saddam is hiding WMD???? Definitely. However, they can be found and extracted without the need for us to kill innocent Iraqi women and children in the inevitable "collateral damage" of WAR.

Bush doesn't simply wish to disarm IRAQ ; he wishes to KILL. I'm sorry that Mackey does not wish to accept/hear the truth, but it's there for all to see. When the killing starts, it will be because BUSH must quench his bloodthirst :( :( :( :( ...........
-----------------------------

EROS - I still don't think you have adequately answered my questions or shown examples that would merit our relying solely on what the inspectors are able to find and Saddam's "word" that they're isn't anything more.. You said that inspectors previously found "TONS" - but did they find ALL?? What if we had only grounded "tons" of airplanes on September 11th but not "all" because Bin Laden "said" there were no more terrorists in the skies?

Considering what is at stake here you need to be able to tell me that the weapons inspectors will be able to find and destroy 100% of Saddam's deadly weapons of mass destruction and not ONE iota less.. You and I both know this will never happen because he is NEVER going to reveal all of his hiding places..

You then need to tell me that he will be removed from his leadership role and never allowed to function as a dictator in his country again.. Another scenario not likely to happen..

You are a physician so you are certainly aware that "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure"..

Our country sat up and took notice only AFTER the events of September 11th - when it was TOO LATE to save all of those innocent Americans that were killed.. We live in an ugly world where people do ugly, horrendous things and we need to operate under that assumption every single day..

I don't want innocent people to die here, there, or anywhere - but people ARE going to die - either way.. Maybe it won't be this week - this month - or even this year - but sooner or later people are GOING to die BECAUSE of Saddam Hussein..

I prefer an ounce of prevention to a pound of cure.. I can not - and will not - trust a dictator such as Saddam Hussein..

I will change my stance on this ONLY when someone in a position of authority can assure me 100% that the conditions I mentioned above have been met.. We may not live in a world of "absolutes", but in this particular situation we better get as darn close to it as we possibly can!!

I am wondering.... this is a message board and I cannot see what posting pictures of planes dropping bombs and talking about the taste of blood will do for your cause...if you feel so passionately about this, Eros, have you in fact written to Kennedy and Kerry with your concerns.. Better still, have you marched on our State House with signs or organized others to join you and do so.. I know some people that have... I am just wondering how far you are willing to go and how strongly you believe that what we are doing as a country is so wrong..

If I felt as passionately as you seem to be in posting, I would in fact being doing just that.. Call me curious... Marsha

Once again EROS you are WRONG. You cannot disarm a madman unless he wants you too. He has been given 11 years to so accourding to UN guidelines. He has chosen not to. On Jan.27 he will be given ONE LAST CHANCE to follow the rules set for Iraq by the UN Security Council. If he chooses to ignore it this time....

President Bush will send in our military. They won't stop until the goal is acheived. Saddam will be dead...Iraq will be a wasteland and we will move towards ANYONE else that threatens the free world. You can preach your line of BS all you want. War is war...people will die. There has never been a war without the loss of life. It's a price we agree to pay as AMERICANS.....to fight and possibly die for our country if called to do so. You seem to think if we just ignore these people they will go away! That won't happen. They must be dealt with...They will be dealt with...and the way they will be dealt with will not be pretty....But as I said before......They have chosen this outcome.......And the United States is going to deliver it.......It WILL rain death from the skies.....And I hope it's a GULLY WASHER of a storm!!!

Sometimes diplomats' and others' desire to avert war allows then to become the fools of despots.

Case in point:
Neville Chamberlain, 30 September, 1938
I believe it is peace for our time...
Go home and get a nice quiet sleep.

I would love to see the UN bring Iraq into compliance with UN resolutions with out a war. I pray it ends that way, without the loss of life on either side.

If Sadam does not to comply, I hope and pray for a fast and decisive end to his tyrannical rule, an end that will bring greater freedom, opportunity and well being to the people of Iraq.

I think that being prepared for the worst case, including putting advance units on the ground, while hoping for an unlikely change in Sadam. War is hell. No question. That however doesn't mean are not things that are worse.

Once can argue that a credible deterrence requires a credible threat of force. Troop movements, leaking reports of advance units on the ground etc. may help make it clear to Sadam that compliance with the UN is a better alternative than a fight he can not survive in power. Being prepared is more likely to make for a nice quiet sleep.

C. ANN...........there are only TWO certainties in life.........DEATH AND TAXES:( :( :( ..........

If you're comfortable sacrificing American lives and killing innocent Iraqis to achieve 100% certainty, then I'm sure that you wish WAR. The previous inspections WERE quite successful. Did they uncover all of his WMD??? Probably not. Could he have biological weapons hidden???? Sure. Can he hide a plutonium processing plant which would allow him to manufacture nuclear weapons??? No.

As long as the inspections are ongoing, what's the rush to start shedding BLOOD ?????????

Well written, Zurg, but I think that you give BUSH too much credit. Frankly, I think that he sees the U.N. resolutions as an IMPEDIMENT to his own designs. Even if No WMD are found with inspections, I think that Bush wants to start the killing ANYWAY. He couldn't give a **** about the U.N.; he wants Saddam's head........NOW.....:( :( :( .........even at the cost of our brave soldiers and innocent Iraqis........

THIS part of your post is 100% correct!! Especially the "death" part - at the hands of Saddam Hussein - if left to his own devices..

And please, EROS - do NOT presume to know what I want.. Put the physicians "God-complex" aside for a moment and go back and re-read my posts.. Re-read them SEVERAL times - until you can comprehend what I've written.. I don't want war - I want to be able to live safely in my own country.. Are you ready to sacrifice your wife and your son based on the promises of a maniacal, vicious dictator who has already gassed his own people? If so, my sympathies to your family..

Innocent American lives aren't permitted in the EROS equation C. Ann...

We'll get pages and pages of diatribes about the importance of preserving Iraqi civilian life, but nary a word about protecting American civilian lives.

I find that attitude curious, but maybe that's just me.

C. ANN.........there are many ruthless dictators around the globe. FIDEL is just off of our coastline. Perhaps we should kill them all to make the world "safe" for democracy.

Mackey, I share my VIEWS around here, not my daily activities. The latter are NOT the business of anyone on the DIS.

As for the Congressional vote on the IRAQ WAR RESOLUTION,

Massachusetts

Senators: Kennedy (D) No; Kerry (D) Yes.

Representatives:

Democrats - Capuano, No; Delahunt, No; Frank, No; Lynch, Yes; Markey, Yes; McGovern, No; Meehan, Yes; Neal, No; Olver, No; Tierney, No.

Barney Frank is my Rep..........

How about PAKISTAN, N. KOREA ,AND IRAN????? Perhaps once George gets a handle on efficient killing, he'll move on to these dangerous pastures too:( :( :( :( :( ...........

Thank you for your response Eros.. I got my answer and I am not surprised..

No - it's not just you.. I've noticed that myself and can't quite figure out just what the logic is..

I've also noticed the endless diatribes about sending our military off to be slaughtered - yet curiously enough, folks such as yourself - as well as other military personnel (the very people whose lives will be on the line) - don't seem to share this "wait and watch", "wait and watch again", "wait some more and watch some more" mind set.. Or is THAT "just me??"

By the way - thanks for all you do for us!! :)

Do we know that he isn't ?????

Do you have some reason to believe that he is? I'm kind of surprised EROS - I figured a guy like Fidel would be right up your alley, philosophy- wise.

How about PAKISTAN, N. KOREA ,AND IRAN????? Perhaps once George gets a handle on efficient killing, he'll move on to these dangerous pastures too

Pakistan - has thus far shown no propensity to use their weapons recklessly, or against us or our allies. Can the same be said for Hussein? I think not.

North Korea - a perfect example of what happens when we sit back and let lunatics get WMD. It will now be much more difficult to deal with them in an effective manner, because a madman has the ability to wipe out an ally with nuclear weapons.

Iran - they'll probably be next, unless they agree to submit to inspections also.

LOL................... who is the one arguing out of BOTH sides of her mouth?????????

We HAVE inspections in IRAQ, but Killer George and the Pentagon gang want to get on with the killing ANYWAY:rolleyes:

Does he have the capabilities of crashing commercial jets into buildings full of innocent people whose worst crime was going to work that day? Is he capable of dropping a bomb in my backyard? Does he have the capabilities of gassing my DD to death? Does he have the capabilities of infecting my 4 yr. old granddaughter with smallpox or WORSE??

If the answer is yes - then please - by all means - wipe him and anyone else capable and willing of doing that right off the face of the earth..

LOL................... who is the one arguing out of BOTH sides of her mouth?????????

Not me, that's for certain.

First of all, you are (as usual) mistaken when you say that the President and the Pentagon "want" to go to war. But since it obviously makes you feel so good to propagate the lie, please feel free to continue.

Secondly, the situations in Iran and Iraq are totally different. Did we go to war with Iran, after which they agreed to dismantle their WMD programs and submit to inspections? No, we didn't.

I have no doubt however, that when it comes to Iran, we won't allow them to play cheat and retreat for 11 years, as we have with Hussein. I would imagine that they will be on a much shorter leash...
