I just rode an Orange bus from TE to Outpost yesterday, that has the information screen that lists the name and number of loops at each bus stop. Also there is a recorded audio announcement of the same. The bus was also playing the background loop from around Pioneer Hall. How new is this? I hadn't been for a while and I never saw it before. Are other resorts getting the same???

They had the audio in June that seemed to be tailored to where you were going to or from. That would be helpful to have the loop info on the bus, it would save a lot of confusion for folks not familiar with the Fort. I had heard that some major $$ had been spent on a system but at the time I heard it I wasnt sure if it was a rumor or fact.

It was pretty awesome having the FW music playing. The announcement reminded me of being on the monorail. The recorded announcements should be a big help. Much easier to understand than a driver with a heavy accent talking on that cheap microphone.

Yes - they spent a ton of money on that system! The bus drivers no longer have to remember to reach up and change the marquee. It's all done by satellite now! When we were there a few months ago, they were still working the bugs out of it -- sometimes the marquee would be blank and we'd have to ask the driver where he was going. The music wasn't working yet either. I can't wait to see/hear it in September!

I guess they will be jacking up the price once again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I heard that they spent 14 million on the system and when we were there in June, some buses had it and some didn't. The CM said that there were many bugs they were working out but they were adding buses to the system as fast as they could. I also noticed that all the drivers had Nextel walkie talkies now too. (I wish they would have spent it on pool improvements or River Country, but I guess people need to know when to get off and on....boohoo);)

They have been using the Nextel system for a couple of years now. I believe it replaced the previous radio dispatch system.

Did they always have them up on the dashboard? I guess they are just more out in the open now, or I have been oblivious, either one could be true, or both!:goodvibes

Thats where I have always seen them, its a cradle that supplies power and connects it to an external antenna on the bus.
