We'll be in Disney from Dec. 26 through Dec 31. we've been to Disney many different times of the year but this is our first x-mas trip. If we plan on making rope drop most days, do we take the bus or just drive to the parks. Hoping to get lots done in the morning and leave around lunchtime...maybe going back a few nights depending on our dinner reservations.

We like to drive. I prefer to come and go as I please. If you leave around lunch time you may want to pop off site for cheaper option.

I have always been a strong advocate of renting a car and the flexibility it affords us to go where we want to go and when we want to go.

Others feel strongly that Disney Transportation is all they need and that is fine for them.

It's strictly a matter of personal preference.

There are some good restaurants within 10-15 min drive outside of Disney that you won't need ADRs for.

Unless you are driving your own car down to Orlando, I am sure you will opt for the busses. Renting a car for Christmas week will be very expensive.

We are driving our own car down so we don't have to rent. I agree that I like the flexibility a car can provide. I think the only drawback that time of the year is traffic/losing a parking spot at the resort if it's full. I think I'll play it by ear and see what it's like when we get down there. We can use a combination of driving and buses depending on our schedule for the day.

Bus...

When parks start to close due to capacity issues, the FIRST closing is of the parking lots. If you ran into this issue, you would be out of luck. However, the buses are still allowed in.

If nothing else, I would use the bus to MK. It's the one most likely to close and the bus gets you a heck of a lot closer then your car would (aka you wouldn't have to deal with the crowds waiting for the ferry or monorail.)

BUS!!!!

Simply because of your dates. Disney had SO many busses going because of the crowds, it wasn't a long wait for anywhere. On NYE, my dd and I watched the fireworks at DHS and were in our room at All Star Sports by 1:00 am. People that drove were still in the parking lot trying to get out.

Bus, for the simple reason that parks do fill to capacity that week and you will get there on the bus. That week every bus that is possibly available is running and if that's not enough, there will be charter buses brought in to assist.

Bus, simply because I don't want the added expense of a rental car that time of year. We will be there Dec 23rd - 29th. I will also be a wheelchair so the bus is much easier.

I always rent a car but for that time of year, I would use Disney transportation. The lots at the parks and resort will be full.
