We're planning on going to BG tomorrow and we want to plan which rides to go prior to arriving in order to maximise the time we have at the park.

The park will probably be quite crowded, so does anyone have any recommendations in which order to do the rollercoasters to miss the queues?

(btw. we plan to arrive for opening)

I was there on Monday with my mom. It was only two of us; so that might have helped us; but we hit 4 of the 5 major coasters; and pretty much all of the animal exhibits; and were there from 10-4; and did not feel rushed.

One thing that helped was having the Busch Gardens app on my droid. If you have a smart phone; I highly suggest downloading that app!

We started the day off by going over to Cheetah Hunt. They had the 10 month old Cheetah out with her labrador companion, and were playing with the two. It was super cute to see!

Cheetah Hunt (which opened this summer) had the longest line; and this area of the park was really packed first thing in the am. We stood inline for about an hour here.

On our way out of the Cheetah Hunt area; we saw new cheetah's out with a keeper talking about how these 3 were siblings and had only been out on the public habitat a handful of times, so it was fun to see them checking out their new home.

After that we just made a big loop in the park. We headed back towards Kumba. We did stop and look at the Otters, Elephants, and Tortoises. Then back to Kumba. It was walk on. We easily could have rode more than once.

Then we wandered through Jungala for a little bit, watching the Tigers and Orangutans. After that we headed past all the water rides (too chilly for us); and rode Shiekra; and had to wait about 30 minutes. We ate lunch at the QS BBQ (which was really good!) that's right under the Shiekra Ride (I forget the name of the restaurant).

We then took some time to digest after stuffing ourselves. We walked around and saw the Komodo Dragon's, Kangaroo's, and the Great Apes.

We headed back into the Cheetah hunt area, and straight on to Montu. We waited maybe 15 minutes or so, nothing too long. And then walked through the Edge of Africa to see the animals back there (as I embarrassed my mom singing "I want a hippopotamus for Christmas").

We were lucky enough to walk past the cheetah exhibit again the last time; right as they were getting ready to "Run" one of the cheetah's. It was really cool to see them run as fast as they can!

Also, our 6 hour tour of the park included a trip to first aid because of me getting a bad sliver in my thumb while I was trying to take a picture. And we, of course, ended with ice cream on our way out.

Overall, I'd say we had a good time. The Cheetah area seemed to always feel crowded. When we first got inline for the ride, it said 55 minutes, later on in the day it was 75. So, my best advice would be to head there first to ride that ride. And that whole area just felt packed. Everywhere else, we didn't seem to have a problem with the crowds. I do visit BG a few times a year; and I've never seen it this busy; so I was very impressed that we got as much done as we did; with the time we had there.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for your informative post, sounds like you had a great time.

I've downloaded the app from the Android Market, which is very similar to Seaworld (which we found extremely useful), only thing I noticed was that they don't seem to show the wait times. Hopefully it won't be as bad as the Orlando parks today, as they were full to capacity!

Let us know how the park is!! We are planning a holiday trip next year & I was wondering how the crowds are!

Crazy busy for us today! Cheetah Hunt roller coaster 2 hour wait.......crowds everywhere. We did not get to see much. We will try again next week- we have not been there before so did not know the park at all which did not help when there are such crowds. Kids got on 2 roller coasters- one was a 30 min and another was 45 minute wait. Skipped just about everything else as I just can't stand waiting an hour or more........walking around was good though saw lots of animal exhibits and they were not crazy busy. We took the Mears shuttle and it was nice although I wish it left earlier in the day.

The best way would be with one of the Guided Tours. I have done both the Guided Adventure Tour and the Elite tour. Fed giraffes, kangaroos, birds, flamingos, rode all rides, had breakfast and lunch. They even reserve show seats for you and grab you drink whenever your thirsty. Parking was free and you get a discount on merchandise. It was sold out so I called them directly in the tour operations office 813-987-5210. Worked out great skipping all the lines.

Just got back and it was also extremely busy today.

Thankfully we arrived before opening and managed to get on Gwazi (no queue), then Cheetah Hunt (30 minute queue), then Montu (no queue) and finally Sheikra (10 minute queue). The shows got full around 20 minutes before it started and unfortunately we did not get to see the Cheetahs run (at the 3.30pm showing), as they only run for the first 2 times.
