I'm a team mom for my dd's skating team. We'll have a bus of 16 girls (ages 10-13) and their moms on a 5.5 - 6 hour bus trip in January. I was thinking as a way to break up the trip ( and noise level ) we could have a trivia game or pipe cleaner sculpture contest or something and I could give out little prizes.
That's where my idea ends. I need ideas for games. Help!
TIA!

School bus or coach bus??? Most of the coach buses have DVD players now. DS14's band just had a nice 12 hour bus ride, including lunch/diner breaks and he said they watched movies most of the time.

You can get some magnetic travel games like Yahtzee, Sorry, etc. too, travel bingo, you can make your own cards in Word or whatever, telephone where one person starts a saying and it is passed down the line and see how it changes by the end.

It's a coach bus but we're not sure we want them just watching movies for 6 hours straight.
I was thinking something like a team-builder.

Shamelessly bumping my own thread. :bounce:

I remember doing a lot of singing on bus trips when I was little. "99 bottles of "pop" on the wall", etc.

I've done ladies bus trips where we've played games, but I don't know if would work with younger girls. One game was "What's in you purse?" You got one point for each item and the person eith the most points wins. Things listed were lipstick, paper clip, shopping list, pen, picture of your kid, picture of your husband, receipt, breath mint, gum, baby toy, kleenex etc..........

I'll try to remember some more ideas!

I was actually thinking of something like that. :thumbsup2 Kind of like the old tv show Let's Make a Deal.
Any other ideas?

We did one on a bus trip that I was just on. Each year the lady that runs the trip trys to think of different themes, this year it was luau. She had each person pick a number from one to six, she just had a piece of paper that she let everyone pick there own number. Then she had parrots keeping in theme with the luau that she had numbered one to six. She rolled dice and say it was number 6, all the parrots were given to the first seat on either side, wherever you would want to start, and the bird with number six was passed back to the seat behind them. If she rolled double 6's it went two seats. They would go down one side and then up the other until it got to the front again. Whoever's parrot got up there first to the other side would win a prize. She called it parrot races, last year it was scarecrows! You could maybe cut ice skates out or something since you said it was a skating team. It was different and fun to route your number on! Hope this makes sense, we enjoyed it, just something to break up the time on a long bus ride!

Great parrot race idea! Thanks!
Anyone else? It is a 6 hour trip and the ideas have to be ok'd by dd12 so I don't come off as a dork. :rolleyes1
