Was anyone part of the huge mass of people trying to get out of the park around 11-11:30 pm on Sunday, June 16?
I've never seen anything like it - it was a crazy thunderstorm and so my friends and I decided that we didn't need to stay for EMH, we just headed out of the park in the rain and were SHOCKED at the unbelievable MASS of people crowding to get on the buses. There was no one "directing traffic" for the people, no CMs in sight at all.
We were staying at the Boardwalk and it took us half an hour of waiting on line *just to reach the shelter part of the bus area*. From there, it was another 45 minutes or so as we inched slowly toward Bus Stop 3. We watched plenty of people decide they were special and cut the line by walking along where the buses stop to circumvent the crowd and get to the "front" for their stop - those of us trying to wait like good citizens watched in disgust.
Worst of all, it became clear that the majority of people were, in fact, waiting for the BWV/Y&B/S&D buses, which were VERY slow in coming, and we watched as bus after bus for Wilderness Lodge/Contemporary Resort stopped, let the 3 or 4 people waiting for the particular bus get on, and then drive away! Children were crying and screaming, people were pushing and shoving, it was a nightmare scene.
FINALLY someone near me managed to alert a bus driver that we really needed extra buses for stop 3, and that the WL/CR buses that kept showing up were driving away nearly empty while the rest of us waited over an hour for the rare BW/Y&B/S&D bus to come and fill up. The funniest part was when the half a dozen people at the WL/CR stop then PROTESTED when their bus pulled forward to let some of the hundreds waiting for BW/Y&B/S&D on. A CM finally showed up and explained to them what was going on and why they had to wait.
It was INSANITY. I've been to WDW at almost every time of year, and even on July 4th and at Christmastime I've never seen the buses the way they were on Sunday night!
What HAPPENED, I wonder??
