Is there a bus from MK to DTD around the time the parks close?

I thought that last year DH and I were leaving MK at closing around 8:00 and caught a bus over to DTD. Was I dreaming?

No.

Yes. :)

But you can walk 8 minutes to CR and get a bus to DTD there, or ride the Resort Monorail or watercraft to any resort (except FtW, where the buses and boats don't meet.)

Sorry, but as the PP said, there are no direct buses from any of the parks to DTD (or vice-a-versa). Disney tested a direct route between AK and DTD in the afternoon last month, but that ended. You'll have to get to one of the resorts and then take a bus (or taxi) from there.

Is the boat shared between the monorail resort? so if I just get on the launch and get off at the 1st stop, I can then head for the bus stop? right? Or is one of the resorts better /faster to grab a bus to DTD?

Err...kind of...there is one route that goes from MK to the GF to the Poly and back to MK (no Contemporary). There are other routes that go to WL and FW. There is also the ferry to the TTC. Yes, you can get on the boat to the GF, get off and walk to the bus stop. The GF dock is on the far side of the resort, so I don't know if you would really save you much time compared to any of the other routes.

In the end, it's probably six of one, half of dozen of another in terms of time and distance. Given that you want to go to DTD around the time the park is closing, expect long lines at any of the MK transportation venues (boats, monorails, buses).

You could:
-Boat to GF, but you'd have to wait for the boat and then walk pretty much the entire length of the resort to get to the buses. The launch isn't large, so you might end up waiting if there is a line. Also the boats cannot accommodate ECVs (it's a small launch).
-Walk to CR; it's about a half of mile from MK bag check to the CR valet station (the bus stop is a little closer). Then you'll have to wait for the bus to arrive.
-Monorail to CR; you'd have to get off the monorail, take the escalators down to the ground floor and then walk to the bus stop.
-Bus to any other resort, bus (or, if available, boat) to DTD.

Personally, given that you want to head to DTD around the time MK is closing, I would either walk to the CR and wait for the bus or walk to the CR and spring for a taxi.

With my mom with us, I don't think that walk over to the CR at the end of a long day is going to be possible. Here are the 2 plans of attack that I am leaning toward.

1) Get on a bus heading for CR or Poly then just wait for the next bus DTD, they do have benches so mom can sit down.

2) Head back to AoA ( side note this is our 1st time staying in a family suite Lion King... so excited... normally our home resort is POFQ.We are checking in early and hopefully the room will be ready, if not we will need to get completely checked in and in the room.) Then I could grab my car and drive us to DTD. I could leave my DM and DD at the room to get start to get ready for bed, or they could come along if they want.

I think this is a wait and see, but I want to have the plans in my mind. So would either of these work with minimal issues?

Are you renting an ECV from WDW or from a third party? I ask because you mentioned having a scooter when using the launches to GF/Poly so it sounds like you have a third party ECV. Otherwise, if she has trouble walking/standing, then you might want to consider having an ECV or wheelchair accessible for the entire day and not just when you're in the park. None of the waiting areas for transportation have very many benches (if any). The resort bus stops do not have any bench and I honestly don't remember any in the boat/monorail queue areas either.

If she has access to a scooter for the entire day, then walking over the CR is probably still your better bet for getting directly to DTD. Otherwise, you'll need to take the monorail to get to the Poly, GF, and/or CR if you want to go directly to DTD. There are no buses that go to those resorts except when the monorail isn't running.

If you head back to AoA, then you'll have to take the bus, but that probably gives you the most options for getting to DTD (car or bus) and will let your family decide who wants to go and who wants to rest at the resort.
