Bus Driver Fight at DHS

Has anyoneone seen the youtuve video that was posted from the www.***************** . A man was refused onto a bus from DHS to Epcot because the bus was full. He threw his baby at the driver and then proceded to choke the driver. There is a 4 minute video on line. I wish the old days of Disney would return as I have seen things there that make me shudder. It was NEVER like that 15 years ago.

We were at Disney last weekend for a quick trip - didn't witness this but dh and I could only shake our heads at some of the stuff we did see - from the clothes people felt it was suitable to wear to the way some people behaved - we sure encountered alot of rude people at Epcot and downtown Disney. I guess it's not the happiest place on earth for some people!!

Our family is not always the happiest with the current busing situation of stuffing people in like sardines. On the other hand, we understand we are on vacation and take everything in stride. We could easily drive if we wished since we always drive down but choose to let the Disney drivers do the driving.

It is too bad this situation happened. I hope everyone can learn from it.

This situation is absolutely disgusting. The sense of entitlement some people possess is astounding.

My family was in Disney July 2010 for the 3rd time and the rudeness we saw was extraordinary, from smokers everywhere to people stealing soda at the resort all in front of cm's who did nothing to enforce their own rules. Disney, in its quest for the almighty dollar, comes up with many incentives to always have their rooms filled--and it works. There is no "slow time" anymore. That is fine but I do not believe Disney has enough manpower and transportation to accommodate all their resorts being full all the time plus thousands of off-site guests. The result is packed bussess, long lines at bus stops, restaurant and stores, no chairs at pools and not enough cm's to make sure that people are following the rules. Add to that Disney's policy of not confronting guests when they are doing something wrong and the result is people losing their patience and taking it out on each other.

For example, at Pop Century there were smokers EVERYWHERE! When I asked a cm why they were allowed to do that when it is clearly breaking the rules he just shrugged as if to tell me "what can I do?" Are you kidding me?
So my only option was to live with it or confront the offending guests and have fights started. I opted with the first option as I felt that I was a paying guest and I was not going to do Disney's job for them. If I go to a restaurant and the table next to me is smoking I expect the manager to take care of it, not the other patrons. With Disney most of the time I found the opposite to be true.

It is sad indeed. It's one thing that prevents us from going more often to the 'world'.

When I first started taking my family to Disney in the 80's, I would have to save my vacation pay for 2 years to be able to afford to go, which was usually at Christmas time. There were very few discounts.....but the expeirence was amazing. The castmembers were so cheerful. It also seemed that Disney's bottom line profit was doing quite well. But since the powers to be have decided to offer deals to fill EVERYTHING to maximum occupancy and then skimp on essential services, well that is a recipe for disaster. I believe that everyone should have the right and chance to visit WDW and these discounts allow this, but it seems that some people just expect EVERYTHING when they are there. I always felt that it is was not a right to visit WDW but a privilige

I find it hard to blame disney for the behaviour of the guests. I think they do an amazing job of handling very difficult situations.

Very rarely have we had unreasonable, given the crowd levels, waits for anything. Generally you see them monitoring and addressing issues. I suspect the serious issues get dealt with without most people even being aware of an incident.

They have also likely decided that certain infractions are not worth addressing. Those people stealing pop and smoking where they should not be know what they are doing and in many cases are likely proud of it. They do not care that their smoke is irratating others or that others will pay more because they are not paying for their beverages. They are likely the people that will make a huge scene if they are approached. Not a very disney situation. So instead the rest of us avoid the areas the smokers decide to make their own and search for a chair at the pool where chairs have been taken by people who have then left for other activities maybe never to return to actually use it.

I have seen amazingly rude guests (and yes I do think it is getting worse). I think this reflects on our society not on Disney which is left dealing as best they can.

I watched a video on youtube of what I believe is the incident mentioned here.

It's hard to pass judgement without knowing what really happened here. But, I do have to say that I think the bus driver may have not handled the situation very well. Not sure how getting physically involved was a good decision on his part. Certainly an unfortunate incident.

From what I gather, the person had a baby stroller and the bus driver told him that he had to fold it up before entering the bus. Everyone crammed forward and filled the bus before they could board and then with the bus being full, the driver told him that the bus was full and that he would phone for another one. At this point the man literally threw the baby at the driver., the mother grabbed the baby and then the man repeatedlly grabbed the bus driver by the throat while all the bus driver did was try to defend himself. Never once did he go on the offensive. On the video I saw, he did an outstanding job by not getting overly involved....but I am surprised that no one else tried to defuse the situation but I have read on a thread that the third person in the group (on the video) was actually a Disney security officer that was riding the bus. From what I gather from reports, the man was charged with assault, child endangerment and will be banned from Disney for life, but as you said, it truly was an unfortunate incident, not only for the assailant, the bus driver but all the riders on the bus, especially the children who had to witness this at "the happiest palce on earth"

Yeah the video I saw was after the baby hurling, or maybe I just couldn't make it out well. Shortly into the video the bus driver is in an offensive position by pushing the man backwards, with his forearm, against the inside divider by the door.

Like I said, it's hard to pass judgement without all the details. The additional info you posted seems to indicate the driver was just being defensive.

Truely unfortunate.

Ummmm, I don't think I'm reading these posts correctly. Are you all saying that a person, um a parent, THREW their baby at another person. Like a doll or a ball or something, a father phsyically took a child and threw it I can't believe this. And then he showed no concern for throwing his baby and proceeded to CHOKE another person. I can't even call this person an animal. That is just so disgusting.

First off - they ALWAYS make you fold up your stroller...the father should have done it before trying to get on the bus! If he has been at WDW for 5 seconds he should know that you have to do that BEFORE getting on the bus! No amount of being tired or upset jutified that behaviour - getting mad maybe but violence?!?!?! Hurting his own child?!?!?

Second - I have had drivers that didn't LOVE their job but they were always good at it and I have had some that were AMAZING and made my visit all the more magical! But none that were violent or rude. This driver was obiously defending himself from attack.

The drivers are actually employees of the bus company, contracted to WDW (don't know if it is Mears for the bus system like ME but it is def a seperate company), but they are still excellent cast members!

This whole incident makes me sick!
What this man did was totally unacceptable, violent and I too hope he was charged for assault!
