We haven't used bus transportation onsite in years since we always rent a car. However, for our upcoming trip it's just DH and I for a few days and I refuse to pay $250 (I've been checking car rental prices on a daily basis) for a car rental for just a few days. We're planning to spend most of our time at Epcot F & W Festival, but, I know we will probably head over to POR/River Roost one evening to see Bob Jackson and will probably be there until close to midnight. I'm guessing we'll need to catch a bus to either DTD/Pleasure Island or Ticket/Transportation Center and then transfer to a WL bus? Is my assumption correct and do the buses even run to the T & T at that time of evening? I hate the idea of even doing that.......it'll take us almost an hour to get back to WL.....so probably will just end up taking a taxi back, but, just in case we do use the bus.....I'd like to know what I'm doing!!

For late night your best bet is to take the boat to dtd then transfer to the wl bus their no ttc bus from resort. It also depends on the time if their a park still open then you can take thjat bus then transfer.

Sorry their no dtd bus from por you have to take the boat

There are buses running between DTD and POR/FQ. I have taken the bus before. Now...they may possibly run only at certain times. But, the boats stop running at a certain time as well, so there is a need for buses. Perhaps one of our bus drivers can head over and give us better details.

If it were me, I would just take a cab...much easier at that time of night.

thanks thought since the have boats they wouldn't run buses they proberly run the buses at night.

You'll spend a min hour and a half by bus or boat via DTD vs 5 to 10 minutes by cab at a cost of $10-$12. Sounds like a no-brainer.

Thanks everyone........that's exactly what I've been thinking........about using a cab I mean......it's only about 5 minutes from POR to VWL using the back way (Vista Blvd, I think?).....I think we may be in for a rude awakening by using Disney transportation after driving everywhere ourselves for all these years!!

POR to DTD = about 10 minutes.

DTD to WL = about 25 minutes.

Combined wait time = 40 minutes max (2 x 20).

Strange math to add up to 90 minutes minimum! Did you mean to say maximum? Minimum would be about 45 minutes, average probably around an hour.

And I think there's no way a cab could make it from POR to WL in five minutes! That would be an average speed of about 50 mph. 10 to 15 min. is more reasonable. Distance is about 4 miles, which is approx. $11 + tip.

That's your math not mind, I'm a bit more pessimistic about Disney Transportation than apparently you are. (based on my experiences)

Based on 30 mph would be 8 minutes, at 40mph it would be 6 minutes. If it takes 10 minutes the cab driver is either lost or taking you for a ride. I believe I said 5-10 minutes, at a cost of $10-$12, not that far off am I.

So to sum things up I'll be sound asleep in my nice warm bed, (or cool room) while you are waiting for the bus at DTD.

Still sounds like a no brainer to me.

Well, the trip could take 90 minutes, but that would be if everything went wrong

My complaint is that you said that was the minimum, which is just inaccurate.

I believe it is pretty common practice to base any travel time on a worst case senario as opposed to the best case, this is especially true of Disney Transportation.
If you choose to be a glass half full type person that's fine, but your going to be late wherever you're going via Disney Transportation more often than not.

I'm not saying it couldn't take 45 min, but it will take 90min more often than 45 min.

That is true, when one needs to be at the destination by a certain time.

But the OP was returning to their resort at the end of the night, so I think a typical time is more appropriate in this instance.

I disagree, but you have a right to your opinion.

I am seldom late for anything when using Disney transportation. BUT...I understand the way things work. I use an 'average' time when figuring how long it's going to take me to get from point A to point B. Yes, there is always worst case scenario, but just as often, it takes much, much less time than the worst case...that would be why we use averages.

Now, while it 'could' take you 90 mins to get from POR to WL, via DTD, it most likely won't. Figure on 15 mins wait for the bus to DTD, then 15 mins to DTD, 20 min wait for the bus to come, then 20 mins ride to WL...that's 70 mins. It really shouldn't be any longer than that...ever. More likely about an hour total...but that is going to be true about using DTD as a transfer point at any time.
If it were me, I would just get a cab....it should take about 10 mins to get from POR to WL in a cab.
