Bus Arrival Monitors at select Walt Disney World resorts

This is great news! I am curious as to how accurate the information is as this will really be the make it or break it for this system..

Why only the one at AKL, not at both parts? Seems odd.

The entire situation is bizarre if you ask me. They've had them at Kidani and the Grand Floridian for about two years now, but they never added more until recently. They're still not at every resort either. It would be extremely helpful at the larger resorts like Old Key West and Saratoga Springs.

It does seem bizarre. Some monitors and network connections cannot be that big of an investment for Disney. And surely if they've been testing them for two years now, they know whatever issues exist by now. Why aren't they rolling these out to all resorts?

I suspect they are rolling them out in phases instead of going from the two test resorts to every resort all in one step. It just makes for a more manageable deployment.

Eventually I think they will end up at every resort and possibly even have an ETA at the stops at each park.

I have some experience with this system at the Grand Floridian back in January. We had arrived at the bus stop 45 minutes before EMH morning at AK. Monitor showed next AK bus arriving in 15 minutes. Looking good! As the time for the bus approached, the monitor updated the arrival time pushing it out 20 minutes. This kept happening for the next hour and 20 minutes until a bus for AK arrived AFTER all the magic from EMH had drained.

Hard to know if it is better to know a bus is not coming or hoping a bus is coming only to be disappointed when it doesn't.

BTW, is it just me or does Disney Transportation REDUCE capacity to parks with morning EMH? In my experience buses to parks WITHOUT morning EMH arrive with MUCH greater frequency than parks WITH morning EMH. Lately I have taken to calling Disney (number provided in MyDisneyExperience app) if I wait longer than 15 minutes for a bus. I am providing Disney with a realtime measure of demand. I like to think it helps. Better to light a candle than curse the dark.

MDE update would be nice too

If I were a betting man I would put down some money on that happening.

I also foresee a time where they use the MBs to help manage bus deployment. If they ping the bands at a given bus stop they would have a good idea where everyone is going based on the dining and FP+ reservations they have. They could also have a Mickey head you press the band to and then select from a screen where you'd like to go. If I were on this project those are a few of the future deployments I'd be pressing for.

i wouldn't be surprised if this is a larger test of different tv models and a possible overhaul in how the buses are even scheduled. If I was putting them up, i'd report I just put up a tv and you can't see it from the sun. Some bus stops like pop, you don't really have a good place to put it and probably need to do more wiring just to get the screen to read or an outlet to turn it on. Larger project for those resorts since it's not a covered bus stop with lights that have power already in the area.

They were very accurate when we were standing there watching. We saw the time adjusted over the course of a few minutes for several busses. I also understand the main bus stop at Saratoga Springs has a monitor. I will have to go over and check it out.

The monitors are all in protected locations. I was impressed with where they put them so they weren't exposed to the weather. Not sure what is going on with the ones that you can barely see the information.
