I'm so sorry for your loss.

Wow, the Be Our Guest restaurant might be open by October? I saw an update about it today on FB, the chef was talking about some of the things that will be available there, and said it will be open by the holidays...what holidays, though? Halloween? Thanksgiving? AHHHH! We need answers, I wish they'd stop being so vague! pirate:

Thanks, Jen.

I have no idea what "holidays" they're referring, too. Ah, well. We weren't planning on eating there anyway, and Shane thinks it's someplace the girls would like so we're ok with waiting for our next family trip.

silly ole be our guest is confusing my ADR schedule. if it opens up we will eat there - hopefully- and cancel another one.

So frustrating not knowing! I hope it does open by October for everyone in our group who is wanting to go there... fingers crossed!

I just downloaded it myself and its pretty handy! Just a shame it doesn't bring up my subscribed threads or maybe it does and I've just not figured it out yet!

Btw am glad the plans are coming along nicely.

PixieMama, when I read that you were trying out the app, I wondered whether there is a new DISboards app or if you are you talking about E Ticket.

Thank you.

When did that come out?!?! I swear I just looked last week for one!!

I noticed the app yesterday... not sure when it became available, exactly. I've used it a bit and think I like it. It seems to be pretty user-friendly! :thumbsup2

Here in the South, it's H-O-T. We've had record-breaking temps the last few days... the high here on Friday was 107! And not only was that the record for the day, it's now the highest temperature this city has recorded EVER.

And we still have July and August to get through... :headache:

How 'bout cooling off with some Kaki Gori from Japan?

My mom, sister, friend and I all shared this yummy treat on our trip last September. We chose the "rainbow"... a combination of strawberry, mango, and tangerine flavors.

What's your favorite way to beat the heat while at WDW?

Mmm a lovely treat to help beat the heat. Think my favourite treat to beat the heat is American dream...it was lush!

Another way to beat the heat is to go back to the resort for some pool time ;)

That looks yummy!! And for sure would be a nice treat in the heat....man, I can't believe how hot it got down there!! We are doing ok right now, we got really hot and humid last week, but things seem much nicer right now..
I bet you wish for some of our "Arctic" Canadian air right now!;) Hope it's not too hot of a summer this year...

Those temps are insane! I'm near dying up here and it's only been in the low 70's but with the humidity it feels more like the low-mid 80's...I don't even want to imagine 107!

The best treat to beat the heat though...that one sounds just about right for me...ice cold. As much as I'd love to say a Mickey's Premium Ice Cream Bar, sometimes I find the creaminess of the ice cream too much, so I tend to prefer Popsicles and slushies in the intense heat like that.

My youngest got one of those... I wasn't too sure about it at first, slushy and ice cream together, but it was really good!

Do you know, I have NEVER swum in any Disney resort pool?!

My favorite treat is the popcorn and coke in a mickey cup.:goodvibes

Yum!

Today it's supposed to "only" get up to 95. What I wouldn't give for some arctic air right about now! ;)

Everyone here in the South will tell you, "It's not the heat, it's the HUMIDITY!" That should probably be the motto of the South, LOL.

I'd have to agree with you about ice cream being too much when you're wanting to cool down!

A week ago Sunday, I weighed myself and did not like what I saw on the scale. I had gained a few pounds since I'd last weighed myself, which was before leaving for our beach vacation. I looked at the calendar, and at that point there were 16 weeks until we leave for our trip. I really want to lose 20 lbs by then, so it's time to get serious. I'm hoping that monitoring my attempts and progress here on my PTR will help me stay motivated and accountable!

So with 16 weeks to go, I decided I'd first focus on losing 10 lbs in 6 weeks… which comes to 1.67 lbs each week. I broke up the 16 weeks this way, thinking I'll push myself for the first 6 weeks then "take it easy" the last 10.

I weighed myself again this past Sunday, and the "good" news is that I lost 1.2 lbs... just a little shy of the 1.67 goal but I'll take it! The "not-so-good" news is that I really didn't do anything to lose that weight (which tells me most of my gain was probably just due to water retention.)

Unfortunately, I haven't done much this week, either. I wasn't able to get any exercise yesterday… unless you count cleaning my bedroom and answering my very inquisitive niece's bajillion questions ("What are you doing?" "What time is it?" "Why does the dog sleep in your room?" "Where is Uncle Shane?" "Can I have a snack?" "Why don't you work?" "Now what are you doing?") as exercise! I'm hoping to get some sort of workout done today… maybe just a walk around the neighborhood after the sun goes down a bit.

I'm also trying to get back to my better eating habits. I've been good at logging my calories for breakfast, snacks, and lunch... but find it hard to count calories when it comes to dinner. By the time evening rolls around, I'm so done with counting calories and portion sizes, LOL!

So here's to another good week! :thumbsup2

107? OMG I think I would die in that heat, I really really hate the summer! :( It's hot up here in CT too, but not that hot! I hope July and August fly by, because by the end of June, I'm usually done with the summer, and now that it's July, I'm pretty much finished!

I'm with you for dieting for Disney! I have 19 weeks until my trip, and I'm HOPING I can lose about 40 pounds by then. I already lost 6, so I think I can do it. I think I can do about 20 in 5 weeks, then maybe I can slow down a little after the first 5 weeks.

It is so hard to keep counting and tracking by dinner, though, by then I'm done with it too! I'm ok during the day at work but when I get home, it's a struggle! Good luck! :goodvibes

107!? :scared1: Holy heat Batman! I'm such a Northerner, our temps got up to 33c this past weekend (91f) and I nearly died! :rotfl: Our humidity was high too.
Favourite way to cool down in the World is to take a ride on a slow, long, air conditioned ride like Ellen's Energy Adventures!
Best of luck on the weight loss! I too am looking to lose some weight before Disney. I've been trying really hard and not seeing any results, very discouraging. I hope you have better luck than I!

I think that's an awesome motto :thumbsup2

… maybe just a walk around the neighborhood after the sun goes down a bit.

I think walking is such an underestimated form of exercise, but it really does make a difference. I bet that if you took a 30-45 minute walk every night after supper you'd notice a difference (or even every nice night). I know walking was a key factor in helping me loose weight a while back.

Good luck with the dieting! As hot as it's been around here, I feel as if I could sweat out 20 lbs. easily! I wish!

I am SO Thankful we have not had the hot weather! there is NO way I would be able to walk in the heat!

I go right after work which is usually about 8-8:30 am and then walk for a minimum of 4 miles. I hiked yesterday and today for 6.7 miles (2 hours 20 minutes each day). It was 78 degrees at the end of the walk which felt warm to me but I'm sure would feel really cold to those suffering 100+ degree days.

My weight is still not moving (In fact was up a pound today?!?!) so I don't know what else to change. I upped my calories a little so maybe I will go back down since going up didn't help either!!

I need to add some upper body exercises but no energy left after hiking!!

Have you joined the Minnie-Mizing thread on facebook from our October thread?

We've also been in triple digits here for like 1,000 days in a row, and haven't seen a drop of rain since May 4th! It's insane.

Thankfully, it's "cooled down"... it was "only" 97 today! Summer is my least favorite season, care to guess why? ;)

You're doing great, 6 lbs lost is awesome! Keep it up, girl!

Good luck to you, as well. If only it were as easy to lose the weight as it is to put on, eh?

If only! ;)

I was in the habit of walking 4x a week... I'd go in the mornings, after I'd dropped my kids off at school. There's a park with a walking track not too far from our house, so I'd go there and get a few laps in. I have not been since school let out May 18th. :sad2:

Have you joined the Minnie-Mizing thread on facebook from our October thread? I'm a pathetically non participating member

Yes, I'm a member... I created the group, actually. And I can say the same about myself, LOL! I'm bad about being a non-participating member... ooops.
