So my dd just 'discovered' b-a-b and my ds just informed her that there is one at DL so now we have to go and I am just wondering if anyone could tell me about any special 'bears' like mickey mouses or tiggers, any special disney outfits, and the sounds you can put in them. And also how much a cute little 'bear' will set me back? If a normal bear at a normal b-a-b with an outfit is $50 I can only imagine what they are in DTD :scared1: Thanks for any info

We have animals from various locations (only one is from BAB), but the BAB clothes fit them all. We went to the BAB in DTD last year and had a blast! We bought 3 princess outfits, one for each of my girls' animals, and got a great deal. First they had buy 2, get 1 free on the princess outfits. Then, we were able to use a coupon for $10 off. You can find those online or in the OC magazines in the airport and hotels down there. We also got a discount for signing up for the BAB club. It was incredibly reasonable for all we got.

Of course, there's no telling what special will be in effect when you are there. We lucked out with the princess outfit deal since that was exactly what we were looking for.

We went to Build a Bear during our trip in December. I dont think they have like Mickey, etc.. to stuff but they do have outfits with them on it and ones that say Downtown Disney, etc.. on them... It was alot of fun but took us about 30 minutes just to get to decide on the animal we wanted to do.

When we were there in June they had a Minnie Mouse you could stuff. I don't know if they have Mickey too and maybe were just out!

They ahve tons of Disney outfits. They have princesses, Mickey Mouse CLub outfits, Buzz LIghtyear, Pooh, etc... It actually won't cost any more than one you would get somewhere else. I think my nieces was $40.

In the past I have always seen Pooh, Mickey and Minnie to stuff. You can always call the store directly to see if they have them in stock or what characters they currently have. If you look on their website, they may also have them available to order. You can order them "unstuffed" through the website and stuff them for free once you get there. This will ensure you they are not out of your favorite character.

We got a tinkerbell outfit when we were there last...and a free container filled with different color bows...cost was about the same as anywhere else. We didn't think the price was inflated just b/c it's Disney, HTH!

My dd is 14 and still loves BAB ( so do I!) We took her for her b-day. Right now they have tons of princess and pirate stuff, along with High School Musical and Disneyland T's for the animals. The only "exclusive" Disney animal is Minnie-she is $28.
The Disneyland t's come in Minnie (hot pink) and Mickey (red) with ears. I think they were $16.00. The best way to get discounts is to sign up for their club. I have an annual pass, so I get that discount too.
Have fun! It is really crowded there, try to go early. Go upstairs too, it is just like downstairs.

When we were there in March I seem to remember seeing BAB MIckey ears as well. I don't remember the price though. But something cute to look for when you go! :goodvibes

Thanks to every one for the great info! And thanks to godalejunior for the idea to order an unstuffed bear to bring. I live in OR so no sales tax :) Hey every penny counts ;)

If you have an AP to DL BAB will give you a 10% discount. THis makes the DTD BAB our favorite!!!

thanks for this great idea! i will definitely look into this! :thumbsup2

No problem! There is often animals on the website that may not be at your local store. When we went to DL for the first time two years ago we found out about Mickey and also saw him on their website. I called DTD BAB to ensure that they had them in stock before our trip so DS would not be disappointed when we got there. At that time, BAB online had the Disney characters to purchase stuffed or unstuffed. It was so cool for him to go to DL for the first time and build his own Mickey.

I was thinking of getting a GC to BAB for my cousins son when we are all in DL next year. If I looked on-line would that give me a good idea on how much the GC should be to get a bear and an outfit??? Thanks for the help!!!

My girls love BAB and I just can't cough up up all that money to make a new stuffed animal every time we visit someone out of town or go to a baseball park. I recently had a garage sale and sold some of the many BAB's they had made. They kept the ones that were made when they were each 6 wks old, which was when they got to go shopping for the first time. Or I guess I did...:rotfl: Anyways, now the rule is if they have earned it and we go into a BAB they get to pick out an accessory for their BAB. This has turned out much cheaper. The other thing that they have gotten which I think only cost 2-3 dollars was a BAB passport. Much like the EPCOT passport but for the different stores. I even put pictures of them with their BAB in it. The employees stamp it for free and write a cute phrase, Like "Welcome to Furrrrrbulous Las Vegas." They of course, want to go into any BAB we come across but if they have their passports and get it stamped, they feel special enough that sometimes they don't notice that we didn't buy anything. Just another idea if you want to keep costs down.

just wanted to let you know that i called BAB in DTD and they are currently out of minnie mouse. they said that they had them last week, but are all sold out for now. i found this online store that is selling them unstuffed for $70!!!! but the saleswoman at BAB in DTD said that i could once a week before my trip in october...and if they get them in, i can buy it over the phone and they can hold unto it until we get there. She was saying the minnie mouse was about $30. of course, i'd much rather pay $30 than $70, but there is still no guarantee that they'll have minnie mouse in stock before october...hmmm...what to do?!

...oh, and does anyone know if the minnie mouse doll is retired??? the online site that is selling it for $70 is saying that the minnie mouse doll is retired. shoot, i just found another site that is selling the unstuffed minnie doll for $160!!!!

update 8/26: i called BAB at DTD again today. this time, the woman who helped me said that the minnie mouse bear is indeed retired and they will not be getting anymore in :( i just can't justify buying a $70 minnie mouse build a bear. oh well...i'm sure my dds will be just as happy with a minnie mouse plush doll that i can get at DL.
