I will be visiting my niece (age 5) over Thanksgiving and she's requesting I take her to Build-A-Bear. I only see her about twice a year so no issue with taking her but I seriously have never been in this sort of place before. What am I looking at for cost? I understand there are accessories and etc that are add-ons? I just want an idea before I go.
Thank you! ;)

Bears/dolls cost between $10-25 each. Then there are accessories. You can get just the bear. If you are wanting to the do the whole thing then I would budget around $50 for a bear and an outfit and shoes or something. That is what I budget when we take DD. It is an annual Christmas tradition.

Thank you! I was thinking about $50 with all the bells and whistles! :thumbsup2

I've never spent $50 on one bear. We always told DD's you could pick a bear up to $15 then a piece of clothing which was about $8 and maybe shoes for $6.

8.00 for clothing will get you a shirt or a bottom but not both. And don't forget underwear LOL

And if she chooses a reindeer/unicorn/dog/other four-legged animal, you need TWO pairs of shoes. :rotfl: And you can add a sound to it, so it will say "I love you" or play music. And glasses! And a hat! And...

Yes, as PP said, you can certainly do it cheaper, but I think $50 is a very reasonable budget for a rare splurge. Have a great time with your niece!

Build A Bear will be having specials on Black Friday - I know there's a pair of sock monkeys for sure. Not sure if there will be other deals. That might be something to look into either to keep the budget down or to get in addition to something else. Enjoy the experience - it's a little corny, but so cute to see the kids getting so into it! :)

Budget tended to go out the window every time we went to BAB. :lmao: There was so much cute stuff in there, I had just as much fun as my daughter picking things out. :)

Have fun with your niece. I think a budget of $50 is a good place to start. :thumbsup2

We usually spend about 22. Or so for the bear with the noise thing inside (3.00 more i think?) and about 20.00 for the outfit. So a 50.00 budget is good. I have had good luck with getting coupons on the website previously.

Thank you everyone for your advice! I think it will be a really fun experience to do with her since I've never been to BAB. ;)

I just got a BAB coupon in the mail that I won't be using. Good for $5 off any animal priced $10 or more, valid 11/1 - 12/24. It's yours if you would like it. PM me your address and I will drop it in the mail this week.................P

The coupon insert we get in the paper will have coupons for BAB occasionally and if you sign up for their email newsletter, you may get some. $50 is a good place to start, but like someone else posted, budgets tend to go out the window at BAB here too lol. Mine had to have a bed and the brush, and, and, and... You get the idea.
