i will be leaving for FW in less than 2 weeks (whoo hoo!!!) and i was just wondering how bad the bugs get at the campgrounds. my boyfriend told me about one year they couldn't even leave the cabin after it got dark because you would get eaten up alive, but he said that it was a really bad year for them i guess. so, how bad do they really get? i will be there from July 30-August 6 (of course the hottest time to go lol).

side note: my parents are there right now(*******s) at the Pop resort and my mother picked me up some gold mickey ears with my name embroidered on it! i was going to wait until i went but seeing as how they're selling out so fast i was worried i might not get a pair princess:

We just returned on Sunday from camping there and didn't have ANY problems with bugs of any kind. I am the only one that even noticed mosquitos, and that was only our first night there, down by the marina.

I will say that when we were driving around over by the cabins, there is a TON of standing water right now and that is a mjor breeding ground for mosquitos. I can definitely see how the cabin areas can have problems with them right now. Just make sure you pack your bug spray and you'll be fine!

My family just returned from a 7 day trip there also. We stayed in the 300 loop, by the water. Lots of standing water around us, the Swamp Walk is right off of our loop. NO BUGS. I couldn't believe it, so I asked some of the people that worked there. They said something about spraying but couldn't be sure. Well they must spray.

I live in a state where the mosquitoes are bigger than the birds so I'm used to bugs. In fact I was expecting them and close to the last day a tiny mosquito did try to bite my arm. I looked down at it and said "you've got to be kidding". But that was it. We didn't even get the swarms around our outside light. Not sure if that's normal.

One thing though, we were very cautious of any snakes when we walked the dog. Luckily, we didn't see any of those either. (or gators)

Just take a good bug spray with you.We where there in Jun and got eat up.
