We are going to several buffets/family style meals (leaving in SEVEN days!!) and I'm wondering if my one year old will be given a plate for her food, just like the rest of us (DH, me, DS 4)? I've read all about the sharing of TS meals, but haven't seen much about buffets. Just wondered how this will work? Thanks!

I don't think you'll have any problem getting an empty plate.

Have a great time.

we have taken our daughters to 1900 Park Fare, Boma's (multiple times) and Chef Mickeys when they were/are under 3 and have never had a problem with sharing. I have only once had a dining reservations CM tell me that I wouldn't be able to get my daughter her own plate and that she would have to share off of mine. When we got to the restaurant, no one mentioned this at all.

one thing -- we usually bring a sippy cup of milk for our under 3 year old children, so the drink part hasn't been an issue. We usually drink water ourselves, and I think the last time we went to Bomas, we just got my daughter a glass of water, too. (so I don't know if they would charge you for the drink if you got one for your 1 yr old)

At buffets, children under 3 eat for free with their own plate. You may or may not, depending on the establishment, have to pay for a drink for her, if you order one. Reports have been sometimes you pay for a drink, sometimes you don't (mostly you don't).

Have fun.

When I made my reservations for our trip last June, the CM did say that my dd1 would have to eat off of my plate and that we would be charged the kid's meal price if she had her own plate at buffets.

In reality, we had so many different plates going at our table (salads, main dishes, desserts, etc) that it was hard to tell which plates belong to which people. Also, my dd1 still flips her plates over...so taking messy mats are a good idea. These are just those sticky plastic placemats that you can put on the table for your dd1 to eat off of. No issue for Disney, no broken plates, and a clean eating surface.

Also, we have always ordered a drink for dd1 (usually milk) figuring we would just pay extra for it. We've never once been charged...so I guess drinks for kids under 3 really are free!
