It's so Bad. Doctor say he may not live. My mom was crying this morning about it.

You see his Jersey number everywhere and on signs saying to pray for him.

They haven't actually ruled out walking at this point. However, he is still in the bracket of the critical periods for survival. He had the four hour surgery on Sunday and he had voluntary movement in his extremitites, but of course that can't foreshadow anything at this point. Doctors still are saying that it's too early to make an exact prognosis due to the fact that the whole live/die thing is up in the air.

It's events like this that really bring a city together and that's one thing that makes me wear a huge grin around this horrific happening.

Thats one major reason why you don't lead with your head. My football team learned how to tackle for the first week of our triple sessions just so stuff like this won't happen.

He wasn't hit in the head. He was hit in the chest which reconfigured his vertebrae into a position that pinched the spinal cord. He couldn't avoid being hit in the chest by the oncoming player.

Thats a scary sight hopefully he atleast gets to have movement in his arms and legs so than he can live on his own but i think his football carreer(sp) is over

If you watch it he dives at dominik hixon and his head hits the shoulder pad. His chest never touched him.

An update from a live press conference from Everett's doctors as of 4:45:

He is doing VERY well. He can move more complexly (wiggle his toes, bend his knee and ankle - all very minute distances but very important ones). He can move his head and he can spell out words by touching a screen with a pen that he holds in his mouth (tubes make it difficult to speak). He is off the ventilator (sp?) which is absolutly fabulous and he is still being fed through a tube. So, he will live (mind you, there is always the possibility with any medical problem that other things can suddenly change) and he will likely walk and not face the worst case possible (other than death). Considering the circumstances, he is doing miraculously.
