If you've stayed there...preference and why? I'm thinking I would prefer island section....

If views are important to you, then the best views are "Disney Springs View" rooms on the higher floors in the main tower. Note that the "Disney Springs View" is considered an upgraded/higher priced room type but worth it if you views are important to you and your family. Also being in the main tower gives you direct access to the main lobby/restaurants/etc. within the same building.

If views are not a factor, than the "Island" building rooms would provide easiest access to both the pool and the walkway to DS. The island building is a separate building from the main tower so you would have to walk via an outdoor pedestrian bridge to get to the main building for the lobby/restuarants/etc.

thank you for the advice. Based on what I'm reading, I agree with you. I like views, but if I stay here,I want easy walkability as my top priority. And I want to avoid tower/elevators still too. Thanks.

We are currently on the 23 floor and love it. The difference is we are about 3 mins longer of a walk than the island but we are close to bus stop and hotel restaurants. The walk hasn’t been an issue for us. Family of 5 with a stroller. The view is fantastic.

I have stayed there a few times, always in the tower.
I last was there in January and it looked like the out building was getting refurbished... The tower could use some updating too the the view of the springs and the pool is amazing...... I'm a diamond member, and i'm a little sadden to hear than when the breakfast buffet reopens it will no longer be included as the diamond breakfast.... But that Hilton forcing more customers to marriott... Other than that the hotel is really nice. Also if you are willing to cross the street to Saratoga you can get on the disney busses to anywhere... or if you take the bridge to the springs you can get anywhere you want to go also

Used to stay there a lot for work. If the top floor is open you can see great views of Fireworks up there. I used to take a glass of wine up and watch. Some kids vandalized it and they shut it down but if you can't up there its worth it.

I have stayed several times in tower and if I return it will be to island. They are closer to Disney Springs, pool, pool grille and their parking. The hike to everywhere from our tower room and dealing with parking alongside conventioneers was a pain. We often were parked far out with a long walk.

Do the Disney Springs hotel area still run their park shuttles every 30 min?

There a re no busses from the disney springs to the parks.
from the springs you would have to take a bus to a hotel close to the park you are going to ….
however, if you walk to Congress park in SARATOGA SPRINGS they have normal 15 or 20 minutes bus service

anyone know if the top floor viewing is open?

I believe the entire tower is guest rooms, there is no "viewing" area other than from your guest room if you have that view, you could certainly request a room on the highest available floor or pay for a room upgrade to guarantee a high floor room, also request for a room facing WDW, I am certain that there is an upgrade cost for this view but worth it if this is important to you.
