I just got a rate quote of $268 for 8 days in orlando for a midsize car!

I had one from Alamo (with a 30% discount code) for $264, so for the few dollars difference I think I"ll go with budget which is onsight!

Thanks Mary for those codes!

Alamo is onsite now. That rate seems high. Do you belong to BJ's by any chance? I have a full size for 7 days and including the prepaid gas and free extra driver the cost is 197.00. I used the bj's code and their free day coupon. You discount code is for up to 30% and I have found that it is not ususally 30%.

Just for fun, I ran a reservation for 8 days at Alamo with the above mentioned code and coupon and the rate for a midsize with all taxes and fees and without the gas was 199.53 for 8days.
I think that is a better rate. Might be different for you dates, but, I did run them for mine. 9/1 - 9/9

Personally I would go with Budget. Last Tuesday there were basically no lines at any of the rental car agencies except Alamo where the line was about 30 people deep.

For a significant savings, I can wait in line. :)

I just got back and used Budget, but I am checking the board deals for someone else. My 2 cents is that I thought you could use Quick Silver at Alamo and you would not need to wait in line. We used Alamo a few years ago and used it with no line waiting. If you are going to use Budget, sign up for the Fastbreak service. You bypass all of the lines and get the car right in the pick up area by stopping at the Fastbreak window.

Has anyone figured out how to join quicksilver for free anymore?

I had a quicksilver account and it's no longer valid!

We don't have a BJ's near me, only a Sam's or Cosco.

Gail my dates are dec 5th-13th.

Alamo for that time with a compact car was 264.78!(that also had the 30% off discount)

I'll take all the suggestions or help I can get on getting this price down!]

For th eheck of it I played around with National and got a rate of $218 for EA! I think I'll keep that one!

Now that Alamo is onsite they don't have a QS kiosk, just a separate line. When it was offsite the QS kiosk was great.

I came up with a midsize for 207.33 total. With a BJ's 15.00 off coupon (of which I have extras).

I also have a 15.00 coupon for national. 10008676 is the coupon code.

How come it is not valid? That is odd.

Heck for what you are paying I would do a priceline bid for about 20.00 per day, which would be about 214.00 total.

I haven't used Alamo in a few years, so I am sorry about the quicksilver info. We have been happy with Budget the last 2 times. We had the SUV weekly special for $229.

Sparkly~Zoe, your doing better than me.

I have a full size reserved with National (12/18-12/24)for 6 days for $252 with all the fees. This is with the DC discount of 20% and a coupon for $15 off from Vacation Outlet on Mousesavers.

I'm hoping that they will go down some too. These rates are just out of sight.

Don't be sorry, they really just moved earlier this year. It does make it a bit easier. BTW, they are now the official car rental for Walt Disney World.

Thanks Gail, so far every coupon I have tried to use comes up with invalid for time of rental or I am past the amount of days allowed on rental.

I will try this one you just posted. thanks.

Ok this is what I got now! It's as bad as airfare! LOL This is also using the EA as well, so possibly I can get a nicer car too! Thanks everyone!

I see you ran numbers thru National too, so here are some others I got in the past few minutes. Oh, remember that when you reserve an intermediate on the EA, that's probably what you'll be stuck with. At least I haven't seen much variety on the EA in at least 3 trips. That may change in December though, you never know.

Avis (using the Wal-Mart AWD #) - 287.90.......yuck
Dollar (using VFLA code) - 234.98 .......... better, but not great

Good luck and don't forget to keep trying. So far I've changed/cancelled at least 6 reservations for my upcoming trip to WDW. I'll stop trying for lower rates when we leave for the airport :teeth:
