Budget Rental - Cruise Port and WDW

Hello Everyone! I have done two 1-day rentals through budget for our upcoming trip and need some advice.

Part I - We will be flying into MCO late, getting our car from budget at the aiport and driving to the port area. We are staying at the Residence Inn with a cruise package that includes a shuttle to the port if we want it. I was thinking that I would have DH drive to port and drop off me, DD, DS and all our luggage right at 10 AM. I would then go get us checked in (using DH's license to check him in) while he returns the car and takes the Budget shuttle back to port. I am concerned because I have heard that you have to have everyone there to check in now. Plus, we have 2 staterooms for the extra room and DH is in the connecting room.

If I can't check everyone in, I would think we would return the car to Budget and then take the budget shuttle back to port. Does anyone know what time Budget begins to shuttle people over to the ship? It is very important to us to be there as early as possible.

Any advice on how to get to port as early as possible while getting the car returned and having everyone get checked in would be helpful!

Part II - We will be renting a car after the cruise from port and then driving to WDW. We will be returning the car to the Doubletree in Downtown Disney. I have read that you can walk from the Doubletree to Downtown Disney to catch a bus back to our Disney Hotel (Polynesian). Has anyone ever done this? Is the walk something that is really reasonable? Does anyone know if the Doubletree has shuttle back to WDW that we could do instead?

This all just seems really confusing and I would love any advice on any of it.

I can help with the second part. Budget does have a shuttle to get you back to your hotel. We used Budget at the Doubletree a few years back and the shuttle picked up my husband at our hotel and took him to the Doubletree to pick up the car. After he returned the car, the shuttle brought him back to the hotel. Hope that helps

We also will have a budgt rental to return the morning of our cruise, we will be staying in the Radisson. My husband will return the car to budget at 8 am and then walk back to the Radisson and we will all take the 10 am shuttle from the hotel together. As far as returning the car at Doubletree we just did this in February and the representative just had us all jump in a rental with him and he dropped up at DTD.

Thanks for the information. It is good to know that they will at least take DH back to DTD...it would be great if they actually bring him back to our hotel!

I am concerned about the 10 AM shuttle and what boarding number we will get. This would make it easy to return the car and then grab the shuttle. I am going to have to ask the hotel what time the shuttle would be for us.
