We are most likley going to rent a car from Budget to use the day before our cruise. And we are going to stay at the Holiday Innn Express the night before the cruise.
My questions are: - How much of a hassel is it to return the car at Buget the morining of the cruise ?

There will be 6 of us, will there be a problem lugging all of our luggagae from the rental car to Budget's shuttle ?

Are their shuttles big enough for all of this?

Thanks in advance!!

Sounds like your party will probably fill the shuttle.
In the past, we've used Budget a couple of times and have never had a problem because there weren't many people waiting. There are two of us, and once we were alone...once there was a family of four who also got on the shuttle. But I have seen reports from others of long wait times...hopefully your experience will be more like ours than theirs!

On the morning of the cruise the driver should drop everyone (and all the luggage) at the port and then return the car to budget. Then the driver is the only one who needs to take the shuttle back to the port. This leaves room on the shuttle for the other drivers AND you don't have to drag your luggage on and off the shuttle.

Driver should take a picture id (license needed to drive is a good idea). The others take the cruise docs and use them to check in before the driver returns. Then the driver just needs to get his KTTW card when he gets to the port. BUT everyone has to wait to board together I think - that's not an issue if you get to the port early.

We dropped our Budget rental car off about 10:00 a.m. A shuttle was ready and waiting. There were 4 of us, and another family of 4. All the luggage fit just fine. We were at the port before 10:30.

We thought about having DH drop the rest of us at the port, then take the car back and catch the shuttle himself but I am a worrier, and worried "something might happen" to detain him. I just preferred all of us being together, worked better for us and less stress for me.

You don't have to board togeather . Last year my DH had to
return the rental car to cocoa beach and he got lost, after an
hour+ of waiting I went ahead and boarded, I wanted to be in line early for Palo, after getting our reservaton we went to our stateroom and he met up with us there.
This year I think we will all stay togeather when we return the rent car. My DH is always late,
delayed etc and you would think after 14 years I would be use
to it but I still worry. Of course you note I went ahead with DD
and boarded the ship. he he!

This year I have the Romance package, so no standing in line
at Palo's !

Just back from the Magic! We rented from Budget last week, stayed at the Radisson and had no problem returning our car Saturday morning. We did get there about 9:30. (All 3 of us because my Mom gets anxious if everyone doesn't stay together.)

There was a line of people (3 or 4) renting cars ahead of me. There were 3 of us all adults and we were the only ones on the shuttle. Our luggage fit (and we had a lot of it!) The terminal wasn't open yet so we were dropped off at the white tent in the parking lot. No problem. They did tell us that they had no gas until the night before, but we did see several gas stations open when we drove by. I had purchased gas when we rented because we were not sure about the gas situation in the area.
Good service. I would do it this way again.:sunny:

We also dropped off the luggage at the port, then returned the car and took the shuttle back. It left plenty of room for other drivers--although we were the only 2 on the shuttle.
