Budget hotel in San Diego

What is a good budget hotel to stay at for one night in San Diego? We've added the zoo to our itinerary and need a good and cheap place to stay as this was not in our original plans or budget, lol!

Yes, we will have a car. I'm thinking budget as in less than $100.

There is a Holiday Inn Express that is near I8 and I5, it's a little tricky to get into, but a great location and is usually not much more than $100 and includes hot breakfast. I've stayed there many times over the years - not fancy, but a decent spot.

Check hotels in hotel circle. Several decent hotels and include breakfast I've snagged some under or at 100 before especially if booked in advance. Balboa park is close by.

Hotel circle will be your best best if you plan on seeing the main sites such as the zoo, balboa park, seaworld, the beaches at this budget. Hotel Circle has the benefit of being easy access to all major freeways in San Diego. Two large shopping malls as well that have some reasonable dining options.
