budget hotel in los angeles?

Hi. We will be in LA for 5 nights this summer and I need help picking a budget hotel (150sh a night). One day we plan on doing universal. One day santa monica blvd. The other 2 days we plan on doing warner bros. tour, madame tussauds, el capitan, walking tour of hollywood.
We will have a car with us; but I'm torn between staying either closer to warner bros and/or universal vs. the walk of fame. Anyone have any advice and names of a budget hotel that would suit my family? Thanks so much!

We stayed at a great, budget hotel in Hollywood. It was about 2 years ago and it was about $150 per night. It was called Hollywood Orchid Suites Hotel. It is right on the other side of the Hollywood and Highland complex. There was parking and our room was very large. It had a sitting area and a kitchenette. Breakfast was also provided. You can walk to the Walk of Fame and El Capitan. We are going back in August and staying here as well. Very no frills. But, it was clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Feel free to ask me any questions. Oh, and it is well rated on Tripadvisor as well.

It's been a while but we scored a great deal at the magic castle hotel!

Budget hotels I'd start with the Holiday Inn Express, Best Western Plus Hollywood Hotel and Hilton Garden Inn.

Then Magic Castle Hotel.

And last choice (of nicer places) Hollywood Orchid Suites. A very basic, well located 2 star hotel.
