Budget friendly clean hotel near Charlotte, NC airport

I have been pricing flights to Orlando for February break and they are ridiculously expensive. We are going for my nephew/foster son's 1st birthday so I desperately was searching to be at Disney for his actual birthday, Feb. 18. I finally found affordable flights but I had to do some tweaking. We have a layover in Charlotte, NC. I am not familiar with this airport. Can anyone please recommend a hotel for my family of 5 to stay in? We prefer something close to the airport with a shuttle because our flight is at 11:30am. I would of course want it to be clean and safe. And if it served complimentary breakfast that would be amazing.

There aren't any super close to the airport, or at least there weren't any on the route I went from my house to the airport. I wouldn't stay close to the airport, it didn't seem like the best of areas and there's not really any restaurants anyway.

There are some in the south park area of charlotte that would be close but I don't know if they have shuttle's but there is at least a mall nearby and other food options.

The airport is a major US Air, now American hub, so most of the people going in and out never leave the airport. I would go onto expedia or something like that and see if airport shuttle is an option you can use in your search to see who has it. I think most people that go for business or leisure rent a car especially since they may not actually be staying in Charlotte.

I use to live in Charlotte. The area around the airport itself is pretty hit or miss. The homewood suites near the airport is really nice and pretty affordable. A two bedroom or even a one bedroom queen bed would work and it has an airport shuttle if I can remember.

There is a nice Chinese food place about a couple miles away called ichiban. It's a buffet and very affordable.

If you have anymore questions or need more suggestions (budget wise if homewood suites dosen't work) let me know! Downtown Charlotte is not far from the airport and I could suggest a few things as well.

The airport area is not in the best of neighborhoods. I would go for hotels in the Ballantyne or South Park areas. Not sure about shuttles - might need to use a taxi.

There is a Renaissance Suites just off of Tyvola and Billy Graham parkway. That is probably not necessarily budget, but it is an acceptable hotel and the area around it is safe.

I want to say that a cab from the airport to South Park is around $45 or so, if I recall correctly.

There are some sketchier hotels at Billy Graham parkway at I-77, but I would agree about that area not feeling the greatest.

For the record, I do not live in Charlotte, but the firm I work for is headquartered there. I spend a decent amount of time in Charlotte.

I live an hour from Charlotte and fly out multiple times per year. There is a Hampton Inn, Courtyard by Marriott, Holiday Inn, and Wingate Inn at the I-85 & Little Rock Road exit. This is the exit I take to enter the airport. The next exit north which is Billy Graham Parkway there is a Sheraton, Springhill Suites, and Comfort Suites. I think all of these would have an airport shuttle due to their proximity to the airport.

I would always get off 85 on billy graham, no wonder I never saw airport hotels. I just thought there weren't any.
