I am thinking about having my childs bday at the center here in town.. it is basically rent a room... They supply the party goods and I have to supply food and cake.. I can also come up with crafts etc.. and a pinata... Any ideas? My daughter would love for it to be an American Girl themed party.. but don't know If I could do it.. any ideas?

You could totally do this really cute! A few years ago my daughters had friends over for an American Girl tea party and we made a craft. It was a pincushion that I found the instructions for in an American Girl book. Maybe you could google it and it would come up. They basically took a piece of fabric and stuffed it with poly fill and closed it up with a rubber band then you take pins with colored heads and you could spell your name on the fabric. Girls of that day would do that craft.

Happy Birthday to your daughter, I have a 9yo DD too :) Let us know how the party turns out.

If you have any of the AG cookbooks, you can pull ideas out of them--they even have sample invitations and "table talker" cards for conversation starters. My dd has the Felicity, Molly, Julie, and Samantha cookbooks if you would like me to look for ideas from them for you. If you have a Books-a-Million near you, I know they have a lot of AG craft books for ideas too.

Cheapest is to have it at your house. You can do the AG theme there.

We started having home parties a few years ago whien budget was tight...Now I can't get them to have outside parties. LOL.

Doesn't Michaels craft store carry AG themed crafts? I recall that they did.....I have 4 boys so no AG here, lol!

AG has these myestery games; for DDs birthday one year we had the girls act out the parts and solve the mystery- it was fun! And the game was inexpensive.

also there are cute craft kits at Michael's- they had these cute AG charms on clearance, and we had a small group of girls make bracelets on ribbon with the charms and some beads. We actually started an AG club for 6 girls (we are doing it instead of girl scouts) and michael's has been a great resource.

You can do decorate a tee shirt for yourself and your doll. Also friendship bracelets are popular with the 8-9 yr olds around here. American girl has a mini mysteries book and you can read the mystery (it is 2-3 pages) and the girls try to solve it. You can have each girl decorate a scrapbook page and leave a place for a photo-you then take the pics at the party & send the photo included with the thank you card.
