hi all,

i know this issue has likely been covered before, but, we are leaving TOMORROW and I am trying to figure out how much $$ to let my daughter spend while we are there... a daily budget? for the whole week? Part to spend onsite and part to spend at the outlets offsite???

any advice/suggestions are welcome. As you would assume since I am posting on this board, the budget it tight.

Thanks!

Hi my DD 10 and DS 7 and they each get 10 a day to spend .. (we do some disney dollars and some cash ) I find that my son tends to save his and get a few more expensive things - beanies, a back pack a Hat - while my DD spend most of her 10 each day on littler things hair things, nail & lip stick kits , coloring items .

My DS7 saved his birthday money $100. He knew how much he had and "shopped" around. We suggested he not buy anything 'big' the first day. All the parks have something different and we most of the gift shops carry similar items. We paid for all his meals and snacks so he was free to buy whatever he wanted. When it is his money he is very aware how much something costs. We were there for 5 days so that gave him $20 a day. He bought bigger items-Mickey Sorcerer hat and t-shirts. He bought a couple of charms for his grandmothers and was very happy with his personal choices and the freedom to buy what he wanted.

SO funny! I just posted a very similar question on the families board.

My DD8 has set a goal of $200 in disney dollars to take with her for our 8 day trip in May. She currently has $48 (has only been saving for a few weeks) and has Easter, one report card coming up and a very loose tooth in addition to extra chores to help her reach her goal. I still haven't decided what amount she should be bringing.

Then there's DD6. She could care less as long as she has enough to buy a pair of Minnie Mouse ears.

I tell my kids if they bring money from THEIR savings they can spend it as they wish. Otherwise on the last day of vacation they can go to the gift shop and spend $20 as they choose.
Of course they get ice cream or treats a couple times throughout the trip which we pay for.
I also bring little trinkets from home to leave on their bed...
This year on the Disney cruise I am making treat baskets out of sand pails for them with beach toys, sunglasses, snacks for the beach, along with a note from Mickey (I will use my cool new Disney font for the note)
I think as long as the kids know what to expect as far as spending, that is the most important thing.
