Looking for reasonabily priced restaurants in Ocean City MD. Going this summer on a combo dance trip/vacation. MY DH, 6 yr old GD :cutie: and myself. Looking for good places to eat that are not outrageous. I heard everything is so expensive there. Plan on spending time on the beach. :beach:

Also definately want to do seafood once or twice as I remember steamed crabs when I was a child while living in Batimore.

Any suggestions for good /cheap eats. Also any other recommendations while we are there for a week?

Go to " Dumser's ". They serve ice cream, burgers, sandwiches, etc. very family friendly and reasonable. It's right on the main drag " Coastal Highway". Cross over the Md/De line and go down to Rehobeth to the Outlets. There is no sales tax on clothing in Delaware.:thumbsup2

The big restaurants are typical vacation prices. There are a lot of choice, but will cost you a bit. On the bright side there are some chain places like Subway, Five Guys, and other fast food.

If you have a house or condo, go to Rippon's seafood and get carryout. We always go there once or twice during our beach week and have a seafood feast on our balcony overlooking the beach - much better quality seafood than you'll get at the tourist restaurants, and better price. You can check their menu online, but they'll have hard crabs, steamed shrimp, crabcakes, crab deviled eggs (yum!), fresh fish and crabmeat (if you want to cook). Their backfin is awesome, full of huge lumps. I always bring some home with me.

ETA, just thought of a couple of other things:
Anthony's Beer Wine and Deli on 32nd has good carry out sandwiches.
Minit Market on 31st, makes their own doughnuts, soooo good, get there early, 'cause they run out. I much prefer them to Fractured Prune as they're not overly sweet.
Also, we usually order a humongous pizza from Captain's Pizza (32", I think?). The kids always ask for this, they get a kick out of it because the delivery guy has to turn it sideways to get it through the door. It feeds a ton of people and is good pizza to boot. Their cheese steaks are good too.
We always spend a night on the boardwalk eating junk for dinner - Thrasher's fries, Dumser's ice cream, some caramel corn or taffy from Dolle's for dessert - and come home with a bellyache!

We are there every year, but most of the time we eat at the house - don't want to waste our beach time in restaurants! I just remembered I typed a big post last year about inexpensive things to do in OC. I'll link to it, but Dis has search disabled right now. They have a great website with lots of inexpensive things, my kids have enjoyed many of these: http://ococean.com/things-to-do/100-free-oc-activities
Are you doing Starpower? My oldest DD is a dancer, and we used to do that one every summer. She's all grown up now!

There's a great bar-b-q place on the Mainland on the highway that takes you to Assateague called Smoker's Bar-b-q! Cheap and yummy! http://smokersbbqpit.com/
We also like to eat at FishTales on the bay http://ocfishtales.com/ ...has a playground to occupy the kids while you wait for your food!

I think we ate at The Doughroller 3x last time we were in OC. I don't remember it being expensive so you might want to check them out.

Doughroller is a family tradition for us when we do go to OC! But be forewarned it is about the GREASIEST pizza you will ever encounter but it is good! We use about 2 dozen napkins to soak up all the grease off the top of the pizza first before we eat. We love the pepperoni pizza because they use the tiny little round cute pepperonis and they don't skimp on them. Now that said, it's still a bit pricey for pizza but on the cheaper side for eats in Ocean City. Last time I was there which was summer of 2010 (haven't been able to sit in a car long enough to tolerate the drive due to health issues) it cost us $30ish for 1 large pepperoni pizza plus a pitcher of soda and tip. They charge per soda (no free refills) so a pitcher is a better deal there unless you drink water and as long as everyone can agree to drink the same thing! That fed the four us well but left room for dessert on the boardwalk a little bit later.

When we do go, we like Phillips, but that is pricey!! Bull on the Beach is good and has a variety of prices. Hall's has a great Breakfast buffet. We used to make that our traditional exit of OC. Bj's on the water and Harrison's Harborwatch are excellent but again pricey. Stay away from English's last time we were there we saw moldy bread and told the manager and he had a very nonchalant attitude about it. :scared1: That's all I can think of right now.

We have a place in northern OC and when people complain about the prices at WDW I think about some of the restaurants we've gone to at the beach :scared1:
OP, if you don't mind driving towards DE there's a great family restaurant in Fenwick called Warren's. Eastern shore cooking and reasonable prices. Fabulous homemade pies for 3.00 a slice.
I also second the notion of eating on the Boardwalk one evening-the french fries (Thrasher's), a pizza slice (Ponzetti's), fried chicken (Dayton's-avoid English's at all costs!) and an ice cream from Dumser's are all inexpensive and delicious! Have a great trip-I look forward to heading down as soon as the pesky school year is over! :)

Wow, thanks for the tips. Will have to look into a few of these and Yes we are doing Starpower. :yay:

It's been a few years since I've been there, but Warren's is ok and cheap, too. Bull on the Beach was a staple on our trips, as was Tequila Mockingbird, which is a Mexican restaurant in Northern OC...bayside around 120-130th street somewhere. They had fabulous fish tacos!

enjoy!

Like a PP, I recommend Dumser's! It's a family tradition to eat there as soon as we get to OC- it's always the first thing we do.

Another vote for Fish Tales here! It's right along the bay and has a great playground for the kids. Food is reasonably priced as well.

If you can get to Bethany, Delaware go to the Cottage Cafe. It is maybe 15 minutes north of OC. It is usually busy in the summer - so go early - and they do have nightly specials. The food is great and we have always felt that it was worth the money.
