Budget e-toll questions

Hi, I have a car reserved with Budget-I find it a little confusing about their e-toll. We pay cash for our tolls, do you still have to pay any fees? I did a quick search on disboards, and it does look like people had problems with getting charged for tolls. Anyone have recent experience with this, if you want to pay cash, do you have to turn the mechanisim off? I read that one person took it off the windshield altogether-is that what we should do? If Budget has had on going issues with this (people being charged that shouldn't have), I'll cancel the reservation, thanks for any input, much appreciated!!

I think Budget and Avis are related/same ownership, right? I rented a car from Avis earlier this year that had the e-toll thing. The sensor is in a "metal box" of sorts on the windshield. You slide it one way to make it 'active' for tolls, the other way to makes it so it doesn't get picked up by the toll sensor. It was clearly marked with green and red coloring with instructions which are easier to understand than the way I'm explaining it here.

I used it to pay the tolls with no issue.

Thank you, after booking Budget, I ended up going back to Dollar. Last night I was able to get it for $275 for 13 days. Alamo is still over $400, Budget was over $300.
