budget doggie jacket/harness?

Just adopted an adorable rescue Shih Tzu a few days ago, and I would love to find a winter jacket for him that also has a harness ring on the back so I can walk him with it. I hate using the collar.

I have a regular harness but I can't stand it and would like to return it if I find something I can just leave on him for these cold winter walks.

If anyone happens to know a good site or store, I would appreciate it.

Congratulations!

My bichon has coats that have a slit in the back for a harness. You'll need a good harness anyway for spring/summer/fall so maybe find one you like better.

You shouldn't walk a dog with only a clothing item. There is a pretty high chance the zipper will break, snaps will come undone, or Velcro will pull apart, and then you'll have a loose dog.

Look for either a step-in harness which just has a single quick-release buckle and they can just "step" into it so it doesn't require a college degree to adjust or put on them (lol). We have harnesses from Tickled Pink Boutique for our two Maltese and love them. The business owner was a member on a Maltese forum I used to frequent so I had her make custom ones for us. You can find something less expensive, though, at Petco/Petsmart/Walmart/Target, like this one: Petco Easy Step-In Comfort Harness.

You could also go with a mesh vest-style harness like this one: Puppia Sports Harness

Lol. One of my friends has a very energetic golden doodle with a harness that we have to watch a you tube video to try to put on. It's so complicated. I own 4 harnesses (have a Bichon and a Havanese) and have always bought basic ones from Petsmart/Petco with no issue.
