I need college graduation gift ideas for nieces and nephews.

Any ideas? I'm on a budget and May is looking to be a very expensive month for us with all these graduation gifts plus several high school students graduation gifts as welll.

All ideas are appreciated.

If I can't think of anything awesome, I may make those candy bar ice cream parfait glasses -- have you seen them -- with their fav candy bars and the attach a gift card.

I'm graduating from graduate school and I was thinking I'd love it if someone gave me money/gift cert to frame my diploma. Maybe you could do that as a collective gift?

should I even admit that for MY college graduation.......I received a NEW TYPEWRITER! and a CAMERA that used FILM!

So you see why I need help with gifts.......:)

Graduation...........means starting a new life on their own. New job, new place to live, keeping the car going.

Although not really cool, a small collection of tools is always nice. Just think about how many "you assemble" pieces of furniture they will put together over the years.

A basic screwdriver set, some pliers, a precision screwdriver set, a hammer, a small socket set, etc etc.

You could get some online, from Walmart/Kmart, Sears, Home Depot, etc.

Yes, the inexpensive sets may not be really high quality, but it will help them get along until they can afford the good stuff.

Every time they pull out the tools to fix or assemble something they will think of you.

I am sure that each household on the boards at least has a few tools around the house right now. All the college kids have is an iPod, a cell phone, and a laptop!

I think it's a great idea but it won't work for these nieces and nephews. Last Christmas, their grandpa set them all up with tools. At the time, I have to admit I thought it was an odd gift but the more I thought about it, I wish someone would have done the same for me when I were their age!

We are giving nieces and nephews that are graduating college, money.
Our DD is graduating college, also. We are giving her the DSL camera she has been wanting for soooo loooonnnnggg! Geesh..could she drop any more hints?
Plus our son is going for his Eagle Scout. I think we are officially broke after that. Oh yeah, said son's birthday is May 19th and his brothers is May 9th!
Hope we recover in July!

How about cash? If you were a broke college kid facing this job market, wouldn't you appreciate $35? I know I would have!
