Budget Car Rental MCO and Cape Canaveral

Hi. Looking into renting a car from Budget--pick up at MCO, return to Cape Canaveral after one day. Pick up another car upon return from cruise at Cape Canaveral--return to MCO after 3 days.

Questions:
- is there a shuttle from the Cape Canaveral Budget to the Port? Has anyone taken it--is it reliable/easy with two small kids and luggage? And back again?

Staying with DF in Cocoa Beach, but he has a Very small car and can't logistically shuttle us to and from the airport (although possibly we could make it to the port!) with our luggage.

I found a rate for both rentals of $158 total, which seems worth it to me--don't think I could do any/much better with a shuttle from MCO to Cocoa Beach and it would give us more flexibility.

What do you all think??

We used the Budget shuttle back and forth from the port in December. It was very simple and reliable. Both van drivers were so nice and courteous. The morning of the cruise, we dropped off the rental car at Budget and he loaded up our luggage and took us directly to the port. He dropped us off at the curb right outside the terminal and we tipped him a few bucks each.

After the cruise, there are lines outside the terminal for specific rental car companies. We got off the ship, got in the appropriate line and within 5 minutes a Budget van showed up. Our driver that time had actually worked for Disney Cruise Line in the past, which made for interesting conversation. The trip is very short, 5 minutes. He helped us unload our luggage when we got back to the rental office and we got our car and were on our way. Again, tipped $1-$2 for each bag.

A little over a year ago, we did just what you are thinking of doing. Only problem was when we dropped the car off at Budget the morning of our cruise, there was a HUGE line of people waiting for the free shuttle. We ended up having them call us a taxi and getting to the ship that way.
