My car was broken into over the weekend and my GPS, my purse (stupid to leave that in there), my camera and my creative Zen was taken. I wouldn't be rushing to replace the stuff but we are leaving to go on Spring break next weekend. So, I ordered a new GPS and a new camera (love QVC's easy pay) The other stuff can wait. Luckily, I never carry cash, and they hadn't tried to use any cards but I did have to close my account since my checkbook was in there. Ugh! Expensive lesson learned!

I am so sorry. That is a lot of stuff to have stolen. My husband loves his Creative Zen, he would have been devastated!

I had a friend borrow my car once. She left her purse in the front seat and you can guess the result. I, of course, absorbed the $300 charge to have the damage fixed.

But it was a valuable lesson to me also. Since then I have driven lots of friends who attempt to leave their purse on the floor of the car or on the seat. Nope, in the trunk it goes.

Again, I am sorry this happened to you.

So sorry about your situation. My son went on an honors scout camp out and managed to loose his wallet. The wallet was returned without the cash. So much for the honor aspect, but at least the wallet was returned. Hope that you have some extra special things happen on spring break. It seems that when bad things happen, there are things that happen to help compensate. Have a great time.

It's so hard to have stuff stolen. When I was a receptionist at a Boston consulting firm I had my purse stolen from my desk so I totally feel your pain. :headache:. It cost me $200 to replace just the things in my wallet :sad2: (driver's license, train ticket, AAA card, etc.), never mind the sapphire earrings which were a present from my DM that I had taken off and put in my purse because they were bothering me :sad1:

Luckily, the replacement expenses were covered by my renter's insurance (I even got money for the earrings) - so don't forget to check with your car and/or home-owners insurance to see if you can get the cost of the camera, GPS, etc covered.

Plus a word of caution, did you have your address programmed into your GPS as "home" or something similar? And do you have a garage door opener or spare house key in your purse? If "yes" to either of these questions, you may want to investigate having someone - friend or relative stay at your house while you are gone.

Reminds me that when I finally buy a GPS I am going to program the local police department as "home".:thumbsup2
