My sweet baby girl is going to turn 1 in March!!!!!! I am looking for budget ideas for her birthday party. We will probably just do family and and close friends, but when each family has 4 or more, the numbers add up fast!!

I am in NW Florida, so the weather might be ok for a party at the park, but it might be too cold. We don't really have room at our house, so we will have to have it somewhere else.

Thanks for all the help and ideas!!!

Happy 1st Birthday baby :)

If you can have it at the park that would be a big help. I am guessing you want to serve food? BBQ? or 6 foot hero and make some salads?

If you have to have it indoors how about a church hall? They are about $50 to rent then you have a kitchen. You could make baked ziti, salad, rolls, maybe sausage and peppers?

Thanks! I will have to check into the church hall idea. The church we go to meets in the movie theater, so I would have to check with some of the other local churches.

Ask friends that attend church. Most of the time it is much cheaper for church members to rent than non members. You could have an "off time" party and just do cake and ice cream OR do it at your home as a drop in say, " 1-6pm, so everyone does not come at the same time and just serve light snacks or cake and ice cream. Maybe cupcakes would be nice since after the first few guest the cake would not really look nice anymore.

I'm just curious, are you going to have food or just snacks and cake?
I would love to get away with just snacks but my guests always have to travel between one hour and two hours so I feel like I have to feed them.
I have no problem just serving cake when it's just for my kids friends ;)

I think it will depend on where we have it and at what time. If I have to pay to have it somewhere we will just do cake and snacks. If we do food, it will be something easy like BBQ sandwiches and chips.

If it was just a kid party I would have no problem just serving cake. :thumbsup2

The open house with appetizers and cupcakes sounds like a great idea. If the church hall doesn't work out, see if there is a club house at a local housing development...if you know someone who lives in the community it might be free.

We are going through this right now as my DD will turn 1 next week. We are in MA so no outdoor parties in January for us. We are having family over to our home (approx 25 ppl including us) and we are doing pizza, salad, cake, and ice cream. We have a local pizza place that does ginormous pizzas and they are about 22.00 each, so I am getting 1 cheese and 1 pepperoni and that will be enough (really, they are that big!) Simple decorations and figure the party will cost about $150 (cake is special from a local bakery that does fancy special occasion cakes so that is $50) Good luck and Happy Birthday to your little one.

Happy Birthday to your little one! :wizard: I had thought about doing pizza too! We don't have a place that makes huge pizzas, but I thought I would see if I could get a good deal for making a large order. Hopefully we can have the party at the park!

Sam's Club has good cakes and they're very reasonable, if you don't want to make your own. I think Publix still gives a free "smash cake" for a 1-yr-old if you buy a larger cake from them, and they also have good cakes.

For my oldest's first birthday I bought sandwich rolls at the bread store, and a pound or two of deli turkey, ham, roast beef, cheddar cheese, provolone, etc, and let everyone build their own sub. Bought the big bags of chips at Sam's, and had soda and tea. I think I did about the same thing for my youngest, can't really remember! I do know we did a bunch of Zaxby's chicken strips for at least one birthday, and Sonny's BBQ for another.

Happy Birthday to your little one!
