Hi everybody!!

My 14 y.o. DS & I will be arriving in London 22 August (which is a Sunday) at 10:35 a.m. Heathrow after flying all night from Philadelphia. Do you think that it would be a bad idea to buy tickets to see Buckingham Palace & the Royal Mews the afternoon that we get in? I'm assuming that since it is the week before Bank Holiday (?) and summer time it will be crowded, but is it like WDW at Christmas crowded? I was hoping that since our hotel is right across the street from the Palace that it wouldn't be too bad to visit one of my top "wants" the day we get in.

I thought that maybe getting timed tickets for 13:00 to the Palace might be a good start. I have not read through the Royal website all the way so I'm not sure if you can buy a "combo" type ticket for the Palace & Mews.

What do you think? Thanks!! :wave2:

Sorry, can't really help on how busy London will be in August.

But going by how us Brits feel after flying back from the US, I would say he may have a touch of jetlag and may not feel like doing much at all :)

I think I'd be inclined to leave the Palace visit for another day.

You're bound to be tired after the flight and you may not even be settled in your hotel by 13:00 if your flight doesn't arrive until 10:35am.

I'm sure the Palace will be popular all through the summer (have you checked the opening times, as it is open for only a short season, but I'm not sure exactly when), but weekends are likely to be busier than midweek, apart from our Bank Holiday Monday - 30th August. If you have a while in London, I'd save this for another day.

Ok TZMOM i've come up with some info -- I believe Keith Prowse in New York sell Buckingham Palace tickets heres their number 212 398 1468

Thank you very much for your replies!! I've just bought the London Pass w/transport which arrived in the mail today. It looks like we will get into the Royal Mews with this pass, so maybe we'll try to take advantage of the "free" things close to the hotel in case exhaustion sets in.

Thanks again for your help!! Can't wait to get there!!
