I just felt like I had to brag somewhere. Grand Californian on the way to Aulani is booked! Both 2BR stays for the family.
DW used to work at DL when she was in high school and it was always a special place for her. Since she moved in with me in MN many years ago, we had gone together to visit her family in Orange County and always would go to DL, but we haven't been since we got married in 2018. Since then, her parents, brother, and her two best friends all moved away from the area for various retirement/job/relationship reasons. So it's been a while and we miss it, even though we've used DVC to visit WDW 4 times since then.
When we bought DVC, we always wanted to try for a stay at Grand Californian, despite knowing its propensity to fill up. Her dream was to use our DVC contract (now plural contracts...) to take us to DL for a day or so and then go to Aulani from there. And against all odds, I booked them for our spring break!
Looking forward to our jalapeno cheeze pretzel + banyan sauce tradition, a corn dog from the Little Red Wagon, visiting Avengers campus, walking around Galaxy's Edge and comparing it to WDW, checking out the changes to Downtown Disney... and then going to Hawaii for the first time - ready to have my mind blown.
And an extra satisfying addition? Somehow this itinerary gets us down to exactly 0 points for 2022 (a small pittance of points banked), 2023, and borrowed from 2024. No OTU points required.

That’s a bucket list split-stay that my hubby & I are hoping to experience in early 2024
