Bucket List for Mom w/Stage 4 Cancer-UPDATE #267

I am so very sorry to read of your loss! What a beautiful testiment you give to your mom and the power of God's Love! I will be holding your family in my thoughts and prayers!

Since we're all Disney Nuts, I thought you would enjoy some Disney pics with Mom, before she was diagnosed :) This was late June-early July 2008. She ended up having HUGE blisters ALL over her feet b/c of those stupid croc sandals, but refused to miss ANYthing with the grandkids. She just bandaged the blisters up & went everywhere with us. Looking back, I cannot believe what a trooper she was!

Mimi's FIRST day at Disney World! Disney was on her bucket list, & we're SOOOO glad we took her with us back in 2008 :goodvibes

Thank you for sharing your pictures! I would have loved to have met such an amazing women as her.

to OP, thank you so much for sharing you and your moms journey, it has been wonderful to hear and see the pics. you have truly blessed us with your faith . i also lost my mom to cancer, and even though it has been 7 years, i still miss her, and at times i can remember that i will be with her again. cherish your photos that you have, my mom was the type that refused to have pics done, and 1 month before her death she had professional ones with our whole familly. to this day she really does not look like she is sick, that is what i want to remember. our condolences to you and your family

Today is the one month anniversary of my precious Mom getting to see Jesus! :cloud9: Scripture tells me that I will see Mom again one day because we've both accepted Jesus Christ as our Savior. Have you?

Yes, it is truly a blessing to know that you and your family have eternal security.

Beautiful Pictures of a beautiful woman. I am glad you have these to look back & remember her.

I lost my mom to lung cancer and I had them move in with me so I can take care of them. I was very fortunate to have 5 wonderful years with her. I would like to share something with you and the rest of the disreaders. After my mom passed and it came time to go through her closet and sort through her clothes, a friend of mine said, instead of giving the clothes to Good Will, why don't you take her clothes and make a quilt out of them. What a GREAT IDEA... so we started cutting all of her clothes into small squares and we had a friend of the family start sewing them together. We were able to make 5 quilts for all 5 kids in our family. Now, when I see the quilt, I think to myself, hey that's my mom's favorite shirt or I can still feel and touch her favorite flannel PF's. Sometimes, I can just smell the quilt and it still 'smells' of my mom & that's after 6 years. I will keep you & your family in my prayers at night. Just remember you mom is around everyday and all the time. :littleangel:

just read through the thread and have tears in my eyes, having lost my mom 12 years ago I know exactly how you feel. I can see the love and friendship between the two of you in your pictures. My heart goes out to you! What a wonderful trip to have taken with her and you made it happen! Thank you for sharing your pictures. God bless you, and many hugs.

I can't remember if I posted before or not - because I have really kept up with it! I have enjoyed reading your journey. I lost my mom to oral cancer last year so related to you a lot. You and your daughter really share your mom's smile in these pictures :)

I am so glad you were able to share these moments with your mom!

I'm really sorry about your Mom. I do cherish the 8 months Mom lived with us. She was ALWAYS my best friend, but we became so close while she lived with us :lovestruc And, yes, I have about 20 of her clothing items that I'd like to make memory quilts from. I saw somewhere that they were $300 each  so I will probably just make one for my DD & one for my DS. I'd love to make them for everyone, but not for $300 a pop! I think my kiddos will really appreciate snuggling up with her clothes :cloud9:

I'm so sorry about your Mom too. We were the best of friends  And, I have to disagree with you...it wasn't just ME who made this trip happen! You all on the DISboard recommended Monterey, my DH happily paid for my trip, my Mom's precious school donated the $$ for her trip, my dad (Mom's ex) donated our plane tix & 2 hotel nights, everyone we know prayed for us to have a wonderful trip & GOD blessed our whale watching adventure with more whales than we could count!! I'm just humbled to be able to say I was a tiny part in all that. God bless you too

Wow--I'm very sorry for your Mom, also. Thank you for reading along with us during our journey :goodvibes It's funny you say that my DD & I favor my Mom. I posted an OLD pic of my Mom, Dad, brother, and myself on facebook today. We had TONS of friends mention how much my DD looks like my Mom. And she really, really does! She also has Mom's same sweet heart & giving nature. I am truly blessed to call one Mom & be called Mom by the other. :cloud9: Thank you for all the prayers & support :grouphug:

This thought is what has kept me going the last four months. I miss my dad immensely everyday but I know in my heart that we will have a magnificent reunion someday.

I just saw the pictures and want to tell you that they were amazing. Although I have been fortunate enough so far not to lose someone to cancer, my FIL is dying of a pulmonary disease. One of the things my dh is happiest about was that we were able to take him to WDW a few years ago before he became sick. So I know you must feel the same way!
