Day 0.5 9.24.2006 (the day before departure)
In all of this excitement I just didn’t know what to do with myself. So I would complete the little things on my “To Do List.” Finish packing, clean, etc. Of course in the height of all of this excitement-something has to go wrong right? Absolutely!
I log on to Jetblue and decide-its under 24 hours until our departure-we are going to have to check in. Well, I look at my seats..they have BF in one row and I’m in another…um…this isn’t right…I checked in…but still wasn’t happy. This isn’t right. So, I call JetBlue and got a great guy who explained that they probably didn’t select the same seats when they credited my account for a cheaper fare. So, he un-checked me and I re-checked in…Not the seats I wanted…but they were seats and they were going to get me to Disney…so I was in no position to complain.
Just before we went to bed, everything was packed except for a couple of toiletries….and I was just too excited to sleep…Not surprising b/c I had been all week…No for that last quick sleep….

Day 1 9.25.2006
Wake up at 0230…get showered…pack toiletries…drive to moms house…have her drive us to airport…we’re all checked in…drop off our bags…and we’re off! Well, kind of…we got there at about 0430…our plane didn’t take off until 0600…People I travel with usually complain b/c I make sure we are at the airport with MORE than enough time. However, we have never gotten stuck in a line at security…BF can only appreciate this when he sees the line after we get past security…still that whole wake up thing is the hard part.
We take off and land at JFK…take off from JFK and land in Orlando…WOO HOO!!!
Ok off to find the Magical Express…good thing we saw a Cast Member ½ between here and there b/c we had no clue where to go…
Magical Express seemed like a controlled cattle call. Go in one direction-they tell you to get in line and check in..ok…Get to check in and they ask if we have our booklet…um…no booklet…no problem…they look it up by last name. Which is not under mine but under BFs (ok this makes no sense…I plan, pack and pay and he gets all the credit…) Onto the next line. We wait…not long…but we wait…I want to get there YESTERDAY!!!
Finally, we are on the bus and away we go!!!
We get to the Contemporary…check in was flawless and quick…over to concierge pick up tickets for the HDDR…find our room-which at 11-ish was ready…
Now, here is where I start to worry…we walk to the back of the hotel, hang a left, and walk all the way down to the north concourse…great…we are the farthest away from anything…we get into the concourse and we walk…and walk …and walk…until finally we are in our room…not a bad room…not refurbed …but we were kindly greated by 2 ducks that we dubbed Donald and Daisy. Ok so if we walk into the “back yard” you could see space mountain and the castle…ok so I kind of got my view anyway…
I sent water to the resort…whom ever came up with that staples idea…Thank you! However, once you send something to the resort you have to go to package pick up to get it…no problem…however 24 bottles of water from the convention center pick up location to where our room was sucked!
So, we put the water into our mini fridge and we were off to MGM…

More in a bit...

We had ADRs for 3pm at 50sPT…but by the time we got to MGM it was only 230 and we were starving!!! So, we headed to 50sPT to check in…the place was mobbed! I thought this was going to be easy…and the place was packed…we were starving…and early …so I really didn’t know how this would work… We checked in…BF went off to have a cigarette…and no sooner does he leave…Mom comes to get us!!! I direct connect him to tell him to get back here b/c I didn’t want to loose the table…and he comes back pronto (good BF-well trained) We sit down and are told to do our chores (setting the table) and then Mom comes out! She was an older woman (mid 40’s) and she was a hoot! Definitely played the part well!!! The table next to us had a kid that couldn’t make up his mind…she looked at him and snapped “Are you going to make up your mind? I haven’t got all day.” He got really scared and when his mother told him that everyone was waiting he could only reply “But she keeps yelling at me.” It was cute. So, of course BF gets a giggle out of this…Mom comes to our table and tells us the “rules.” BF is dying at this point b/c this is just not what he expected and was shocked that the CMs could get away with so much. We got our meals…and cleaned our plates….So, mom made everyone clap for us. There was a couple behind us…the woman from that couple hid her greens…Mom played “airplane” with her…when the man from the couple did the same thing she had everyone pound on our tables and did the choo choo train…it was a hoot! The food was great!
We continued seeing the sites at MGM and ended with the Tower of Terror…and that was our first day…we were whooped and crashed.

Up early for the Keys To The Kingdom Tour. We ate counter service and the hotel and then we were off to the monorail. I asked the CM if we could ride up front if it was open…we didn’t get to do this the last time we were there…and as luck would have it…it was open!!! We hopped up front and took our seats. Our driver wasn’t very friendly…only spoke when spoken to (then why be at Disney?) On our next stop we had 2 little boys join us…the parents rode in back…now that is trust! The little boys were very well behaved…but the driver still didn’t make the experience magical for them…it was magical enough for me just to ride in front…I figured the driver might have gone the extra mile for the kids…oh well…but we did get the co-pilot cards…
Keys to the Kingdom was amazing! It was 5 hours of walking…and we learned a ton! (none of which I’m going to tell you) I will say this…it makes you look at things a lot differently after taking the tour…you are more aware of what is there and what is going on. Lunch was at Columbia House…and just a tip…if you want to get away from the kids…eat upstairs…they don’t have an elevator in this restaurant…so you cant get strollers up there.
Our guide did have this thing with the word AMAZING…I think it was the only adjective she knew. So, for the rest of our trip…everything was…AMAZING.
Dinner that night was at the Concourse. I was a little nervous about this b/c there was some really poor reviews on DIS. The food was fabulous. The service was fantastic! And the butterfinger cheesecake was to die for!
Off to DTD for some shopping and then off to bed…

I'll wait to post day 3

Our day at Epcot…I couldn’t wait…Mission Space is my favorite ride. Which is kind of strange b/c I get motion sick pretty easily…YES I do the Orange version…but I am VERY well medicated before I go on anything!!! So, we walk in and I told BF that we had to go to Soarin’ first. BF wanted to know what that was all about…I told him that it was just a cool ride and had gotten some great reviews here…and when we got there the wait time was 5 minutes…more like no line b/c we walked right on…Now tell me how that happened when I’ve read here that there is usually a huge wait no matter what time you get there…and we didn’t get there at opening…Cool..So, we get in the pseudo line and get into que…lock and load ourselves into our chairs and we were flying!!! This was a really cool ride and now I don’t know which one was my favorite!!!
We walked around for a bit…then got lunch at Le Cellier. Oh my oh my oh my!!! The food was amazing the theme was fantastic! We ate like a king and queen! The pretzel bread was awesome! I had the cheddar cheese soup and BF had the kabob. We both had the filet as an entrée and the chocolate cake for desert…we left stuffed!
Then it was over to a character connection for the Disney Visa photo thing…that was fun…there was actually a bit of a line..So we waited and watched the segway demo…so after we hit the line for that after…
First, they make you sit thru a little demo, sign a waiver and you’re off. It’s a quick lap down and back and then you’re done. Of course they offer you info on the 2 tours they offer…and of course b/c BF and I had so much fun…we booked the one hour tour for the next day…
Next-off to Japan to pick a pearl. I was determined to do this and glad I did…I first chose a pearl and there was an old lady standing next to me…I told BF which one I wanted…and the old lady chose that one! Oh well…her lack of creativity scored me a great pearl! After she chose the one I wanted…BF took me over to the other tank…and we found the ugliest oyster we could find and ended up with an 8mm pink pearl. We had it set in a sterling silver ring. When we came back to pick up the setting that had it waiting on display…it’s beautiful and I love the fact that BF picked out the pearl and the setting.
After that it was off to Mission Space and I think that concluded our day..it was hot and sticky…we wanted a get in early…so it was off to DTD (do you see a trend here)

Lots to do today! 1st it was over the Mk to trace our steps from the KTTK tour. During this we met the Mad Hatter and Alice! It was a great experience…the Mad Hatter told me all about only having caffeinated tea in wonderland and Alice was taken with BF and says outloud “He’s cute! I wanna stand by him!” Ok thanks Alice…but you just gave BF gloating privledges!
After getting our photos it was a mad dash for the monorail and onto Epcot for our segway tour. This tour was 1 hour. For this we got the how to ride and some practice and then it was off to a roped off area outside. Very cool! The guy doing the tour was great and really helpful…he even took lots of photos of us on your segways and get pictures of BF and I holding hands and kissing! He even waited for the monorail to come thru…so we have some great pictures…Really I think he just liked using our camera. Not a big deal…I’ll share my toys if you share yours. At the end we got a Simply Segway pin to add to our collection.
After this we tried to finish seeing the rest of the World Showcase…we decided that next time we are going to do Epcot in 2 days b/c 1 or even 1.5 just wasn’t enough…So, there is always a next time…
At about 3:30 or so we decided to head back…we had ressies at the Hoop-De-Doo Review at 5…
By the time we got back to our room and called guest services for directions…it was already 4:30-um ok where did the time go?
We got down to the launch and waited. We shared a bench with another couple who were camping at Fort Wilderness. They said we would just make it…I got a little nervous…I didn’t want them to give our seats away!!! But we made it in time and it was better than I could have hoped! We sat in the catwalk up top…The show was a hoot! The food was great! Definitely worth doing again!!!
Once we were done it was back to DTD…what can I say-we like to shop!

Great trip report!!! My daughter picked out an 8mm pink pearl in Japan, too! I bet it's gorgeous as a ring! We made hers into a necklace. Can't wait to read more!

I forgot to add…On Day 4 I still needed to get a bunch of pictures with characters I hadn’t seen yet…and we were trying to make the best of our photopass…we figured the more photos the better deal it would be to purchase the CD…So before we went to DTD we went to MK…Well, we kind of got there at a bad time b/c it was just before the parade…Bf was paying attention when we did the KTTK tour b/c he was off and running…we made if from the front gate thru main st usa the log way-thru adventure land, frontier land and then to toon town to get photos with the princesses…We made it in under 20 minutes…from the front of MK to Toon town…It think that’s a record!

More later!!!
