Please help me out if you can...

On Christmas we always have Monkey bread...... yummmmmm

We were talking about this with my Grandmother who just moved up here near us. She was wondering if it was anything like "bubble bread" and went on to tell us that they (her family when growing up) use to always have bubble bread but she has no idea of how to make it...

I told her that I would goggle it and we would figure it out. Well, I googled it and I can't seem to find what she is talking about.

She said that you roll the dough balls and put them in the pan... then you mix "real cream" with a couple of other things and bake it.

When I google it there is susage, nuts....... nothing about cream.

Any Ideas???? If I can find out how to make it, I will be making it soon for her!

Thanks

YES!

My mom used to make this (she got the recipe from my grandma) and she called it bubble bread. Only recently, I found out that most people call it monkey bread. I still don't get why exactly :confused3

She made it pretty much the same way as I think monkey bread is described. A sweet bread dough is rolled into balls, then dipped in butter (well, she always used margarine) and then cinnamon sugar. Maybe there was additional butter poured on top -- who knows.

I'd guess your grandma is talking about a just slightly different recipe for "Monkey Bread".

My Grandma said that the "bubble bread" that they made wasn't to sweet........ I know our Monkey bread is SWEET!

Maybe I should just make some Monkey bread and see if it is the same as she is remembering or not!?!

Not sure what to think!

I'm thinking that it sounds good... so I will probably be making some this weekend!!!!!!!

lol it does sound good.

You know, ours wasn't too sweet. It was just mildly sweet, like coffee cake or muffins or something. It kinda sounds like she just had a different recipe.

Here some "bubble bread" I found...

I also found some when searching bubble bread recepies.

Looks like some are indeed what I call Monkey Bread.

Hope this helps.

Thanks! I wasn't having much luck at all finding anything! I am off to look these up and talk to my Grandma to see what we can come up with!
