For those of you with BT Anytime (or whatever else they call their access packages), have you had problems with your connection recently?

Over the weekend, and again this morning, I keep getting really slow connections around the 19 - 24000 bps (usually the connection is over 45000). Sometimes, as well as making everything annoyingly sludge-like when opening new pages, etc., it seems to grind to a halt completely and nothing loads.

Is mine an isolated gripe, or are any other BT users having similar difficulties at the moment?

.......I wasn't around at the weekend so cannot say but a couple of evenings last week, about 6.00pm- 7.00pm, the server was VERY sluggish ... my son was trying to research some homework but gave up until later on in the evening.

Mostly I don't have any problems - I am considering Tesco's Anytime package which is only £12.99 a month - I am just waiting to hear some feedback on this service before I switch.

all of the internet has been having problems this weekend - there has been some sort of 'internet virus' (not something that can affect your pc) and it has slowed everything down.

Virus attack hits internet traffic

Financial Times, January 27th, 2003
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The vulnerability of the internet was underlined this weekend as the most serious computer virus attack for 18 months led to a sharp slowdown in network traffic, closed some automatic teller machines and denied many computer users access to e-mail and the internet.
The virus-like program, dubbed SQL Slammer, exploits a known vulnerability in Microsoft database software that is used widely by companies. Personal computers are not believed to be at risk.

The attack began just after midnight Eastern Standard Time on Saturday and spread rapidly, infecting hundreds of thousands of computer servers across Asia, Europe and the US.

Companies reported that computer networks had slowed almost to a standstill as the virus generated huge volumes of data traffic. About 250,000 computers worldwide had been infected by Saturday evening. Simon London, San Francisco

Oooh eerr! :earseek:

I guess I should be grateful I could get a connection at all.

Hilary, I'm on a cable and mine as been slow as well. It's probably this bug, virus, or worm.

I read that all of Bank America's ATMs (cashpoints) went down this weekend. I wonder if they're connected?
