1) What size mattress is the pull-down bed? It appears to be a standard twin size so I assume an average sized adult female would fit on it, yes?

2) How difficult will it be to get a studio in October at 7-months for 5 nights (no weekend)?

Thanks!

1. The Murphy Bed mattress measures 33x72", slightly smaller than the traditional twin bed dimensions of 39x74". Being smaller than a twin mattress, any adult uncomfortable in a standard twin bed will struggle to adjust to the DVC Murphy Bed. However it is quite suitable for a child or smaller adult.

2. As mentioned, everything in October is challenging at 7 months. Best bet is just to look at all resorts availability at 7 months and figure out which one appeals the most. I'm assuming that you plan on booking your home resort at the 11 month mark to make sure you don't get shut out, right?

Right now, it is just myself and my 2 daughters who are planning to go. In 2008, when the girls were 3 and 5, a dear friend of mine came along with us and we had quite a trip. She has expressed interest in going again so I said she is welcome to come along. I was thinking that one of the studios that sleeps 5 would be better so that only the kids have to share a bed. I can let DD13 take the pull down and DD15 and I can share the queen bed, giving my friend the pullout. If she doesn't end up coming, then DD15 can have the bed to herself and I'll take the pull out so that none of us have to share a bed.

Absolutely! AKV is my home resort and I will have enough points to book a standard studio for 6 nights at the 11 month mark. This way, we could come down Saturday if the airfare is cheaper. I would love to switch to a different resort at 7 months, even doing a split-stay, just to try something new. I completely understand the tight October availability so if we can only get 2-3 nights at a different resort, than that's what we will do. I will have enough points for SSR (preferred), BCV, BRV, BWV (pool), CCV, OKW or AKV so we have a lot of options...but we will be severely limited by what is available.

We were looking for a studio in mid oct in 2015 (we bought into BWV too late to secure any studio there at 8 months out). We had hoped to trade into BLT or BRV but both were missing multiple nights for our week by the time the 7 month window opened (and that seemed to be the case for most October weeks that year). We were lucky to snag the Poy at 8 am 7 mo out since it had just recently started selling and there was a lot more inventory declared than actually sold
