Day1 -Wed, Nov 26
I was dreaming about something un-Disney related and mentioned "Epcot" to someone in my dream. At that instant my eyes flew open. Yeah, we are going to Disney!!!
Woke up about 4:30 and got ready to go. We were on the road at 6am.
Had a very nice, uneventful trip. Those portable DVD players are amazing!!!!!! DS watched "Spaceballs" and did not speak a word for a wonderful 90 minutes!!!!!!!! Then he was happy to color on his lapdesk and play with playdoh. We got off the turnpike at Oseceola Parkway at 8:58 am. Stopped at Chevron for gas and headed to the Wilderness Lodge!!! We arrived about 9:30. WOW!!!! The Lodge is so impressive! Pictures and video (Great Hotels) does not do it justice! It was decorated for the holidays and the lobby is just as "jaw-dropping" as Samantha Brown says it is. No line for check-in. We were told that we were getting all of our requests and that we would not have to change rooms (we had a continuing reservation with an AP rate). The bellman stored our luggage and we were off to the the boat dock. The view of the Lodge from the back is out of this world!!!! You have to see it in person! The boat to the Magic Kingdom was there in a few minutes and we were on our way!
We had a short wait to exchange our vouchers and decided not to get a stroller for DS. Surprise: the MK was decorated for the holidays!!!!!! I thought it wouldn't be until T-day!!! It was pretty crowded, so we decided to get FP for Buzz. Our return time was between 11:20 and 12:20, so we had lots of time!!! We rode the Mad Tea Party with a 10 min wait, then the Barnstormer with a 15 min wait, and we walked through Minnie's house which was very crowded! We by-passed Fantasyland, since we would be back for EE on Sunday.
We rode the Haunted Mansion (yes, on the same day the movie came out) with a 15 min wait and then went to eat a Turley Leg. This was our first. We all shared it and it was plenty. Got some cute pictures of DS eating it! We then headed over to Tom Sawyer's Island. Did I mention the weather was just perfect????
After Tom Sawyer's we decided to head back to Buzz for our FP and walked right on-love it! DS wanted ice cream, so we got him one and DH adn I shared a Mickey ice cream sandwich.
We decided to head back to the Wilderness Lodge. The boat was right there. We stopped at Fort Wilderness on the way. It didn't take too long. Our room was not ready, so we checked out the Mercantile and played in the arcade. DH and DS decided to go swimming in their regular shorts. Yes, I forgot to pack an extra bag with swimsuits!!! I relaxed for a while on the second floor lounge which was two brown leather chairs in front of a roaring fire with Christmas music playing all around.... This same tape played throughout our stay instead the regular music . It played even out by the pool. It was very soft and relaxing. I was resting quietly when I thought of the DIS memory box!!!! I had the instructions in my fanny pack! In a flash I was on the nature trail...
It did not take long to find the spot. The "X" is still on the tree. HOWEVER, it took forever to find the box. It was hidden underneath some really gross stuff that I had to touch to move it! YUCK! The box was pretty full and we probably need one that is a little bigger (maybe a plastic shoebox).
After puttting the box back, I called from my cell to see if the room was ready . It was!!!!! I went back to the pool to find the rest of my crew (DS loved the pool slide!)
Our room was a woods view room, NS, with a queen and bunk bed. The room # was 2016. We were on the North wing, right above the otter pond!!! We never saw the otter, but saw lots of ducks and baby ducks. A few times during our stay we saw the Mk fireworks right from our room! I left DH to unpack, while I headed down to the hot tub. I could not stay long since we had a PS at Whispering Canyon for dinner at 5pm.
Whispering Canyon was a lot of fun! Before the first seating, the lady rang the dinner bell and yelled "COME AND GET IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!" throughout the lobby, just like she did in the "Great Hotels" episode. DS loved it! They had a Lincoln Log play table for the kids while we were waiting. In a few minutes we were seated. The antics here are fun and not too overdone. The boy at the next table was causing trouble so the waiter yelled out if he should bring him another milkshake. Of course, we all yelled, "NO!" DS particpated in the Pony races, which was really cute. The food here was VERY good. I wouldn't hesitate to eat here again. It was barely 6pm and I was passing out!!! We went up to our room and got DS ready for bed. He was asleep at 7pm and we were not far behind. I did hear the fireworks and got up for a few minutes to watch, but I was so tired! Dh and DS had the bunk bed, so I got the queen all to myself!!!!ZZZZZZZZZZ......
Tomorrow...... Day 2-Thanksgiving day at Epcot, more relatives arrive, and Chef Mickey's!!!!
