going in July might have a day no parks renting a car for a day so will use 2 table the next day our last day...any opinions would be great kids are 17 and 20 staying at Beach club

That's a tough one. IMHO, they are both good. I would check the menus and choose from there. I lean toward Brown Derby slightly as I just prefer the atmosphere in the restaurant a little more - it's bigger and a little brighter, so it just feels a little more comfortable to me.

Staying at Beach Club, you may want to consider Yachtsman and Flying Fish as well - food is very good!

Le Cellier 100%- we were so disappointed with the Brown Derby. The poutine and filet alone at Le Cellier would hook me in again! Also would consider Jiko - my absolute favorite signature meal!

Le Cellier is a must do for us but we were not impressed by Brown Derby, tried it once and never went back. The service wasn't great and the food was just ok. DH and DD love the cheddar soup at Le Cellier. The fillet is our favourite and we also enjoy the poutine (though not traditional). we also enjoy Epcot more than DHS.

Have you considered the Yachtsman Steak house? It is excelent and just a short walk.

Brown Derby. We have eaten there twice. Le Cellier was okay, a bit salty. However, we were eating a lot of cheese and there was pretzel bread. Jiko is fabulous! Better than both of those.

Of the 2 you mentioned I would choose LC. But I would seriously consider Yachtsman's Steak House at the YC. It is terrific

I can't comment on the Brown Derby since I have never been there yet; but I can comment on Le Cellier. For me personally I did not have a very good experience at LC. I thought the place was dark (I get the cellar concept), loud, and way too cramped. As for the food I thought the Mushroom filet was way too salty and of average quality and the risotto like Minute Rice with Campbell's soup on it. Perhaps I'm a little harsh on this place but I expect so much more for a Signature Restaurant than this. Disney basically put lipstick on a pig and changed this place to a signature and raised the prices. I think it speaks a lot about this place when I hear so many glowing reviews of the cheese soup and pretzel bread (both excellent) rather than their steaks.

It would seem the OP is using the DDP, and in that case I have to agree with some of the others who recommended the short walk or boat ride over to the Yachtsman Steakhouse instead. For me the atmosphere is much nicer, more open, the service is better and the steaks are much better. YSH for me is easily a much better dining experience than LC by a landslide.

I guess everyone has a different opinion. I think Le Cel is overrated, but in all fairness we haven't gone in about 3 years. We tried HBD for the first time last summer and we all agreed it was our favorite meal of the trip.

I am not a Brown Derby fan. Don't like the food there. I do like Le Cellier so my suggestion is obvious

I prefer Brown Derby as well - there's more variety on the menu. I usually get the filet, but I also love the Cobb salad.

So true about different opinions. We've eaten at HBD every trip since it opened, so probably about 20 x. We've always had a great meal with wonderful service and lovely atmosphere. It's pretty much our favorite WDW restaurant. My favorites on the menu are the Cobb Salad (as a main entree at lunch) and the seasonally available Oyster Brie Soup. It's been a long time since I've had the steak, but I remember it was really good.

We haven't been to Le Cel in years because the last time we were so uncomfortably squished in - might as well have been sitting at the same table as people next to us. Also, we felt like everything was overpriced for the quality.

Every time I go to DHS I consider Brown Derby. But then I look at the menu and it just doesn't appeal to me. I do like Le Cellier. I will say though that the first time I went I had the NY Strip and it was not very good. My parents had the filet and raved about them. I enjoyed everything else during the meal but you would have expected the steak to be the main star. The next time I went I ordered the filet and it was amazing!! So - if you like filet I recommend LC, otherwise I'd try another steakhouse. One I've wanted to try is Shula's. My DH was there for a work conference last week and said Shula's was excellent.

ETA: I just realized that I don't know if Shula's is on the dining plan or not, so that may not be a very good recommendation!
