HI, We have an ADR for the Brown Derby for lunch. The menu looks interesting but expensive. Is it worth it??? :confused3

I suppose the food could be ranked "better than average" but since the service was so bad we didn't get any of our drinks until long after the meal was served. Further, the meal was slammed right on top of the appetizer. Seriously, they arrived at the same time by a runner. Our waiter was no where to be found. By the time we got our drinks, the food had cooled considerably. Waiter never even checked to see if the food was ok, if we needed anything or otherwise. We had to flag down another server to get our check. We will not be back. There are far better dining experiences for the money!

We ate there a few years ago as part of the Fantasmic package. The food was fine but I don't think anyone was blown away. We were really turned off though with one thing. When we got the chocolate lava cake for dessert and it was so sweet we couldn't eat it. The waiter asked why we didn't like it and we mentioned how sweet it was so he asked if we wanted some vanilla ice cream to go with it. We said sure and it was much better this way. Until the bill came and they charged us quite a bit for that scoop of vanilla ice cream that they suggested we have!

We have had lunch a Brown Derby many times, and have had great service and very good food every time. We must be lucky. :thumbsup2

We especially enjoy it on super hot summer days as a happy oasis from the crowds and sun. A little white wine, relaxed atmosphere, good food. We've also been lucky to have a booth each time, which we like better than a table.

Plus we use TIW card so the price is a little better.

Hi there,

My wife and I ate lunch at the Brown Derby as part of the Dine With an Imagineer Lunch. The entire experience was incredible and highly recommend it! The food was great and having an hour to chat with an Imagineer in a small group setting was amazing.

Enjoy!

We've eaten there several times - some very good, mostly it was mediocre. We usually go for lunch and DH does enjoy the cobb salad.

I will say that we have had poor service way more than once. The last time we went with our kids (who are generally very easy in a restaurant) and I actually could feel the irritation from the server towards our kids. Honestly they weren't loud or running around, they just wanted to order for themselves and were trying to talk to him. He acted like he couldn't get away fast enough!

I think we waited about 20 minutes before we even got waters on one visit...during lunch when it wasn't busy.

I've eaten here at least a dozen times. We have always enjoyed the food and have had good service.

We enjoyed Brown Derby much for the fantasmic dinner package.... so much we returned for lunch later in the week. Reviews are at the link below. I really liked the grouper dish I had... and I thought the steaks at lunch were very good too. The soup was unique, and delicious.... oyster and brie cheese soup.

Brown Derby Review

I love it and always had good service. When we were there, my d wanted a taste of my oyster & brie soup, so I gave it to her. She said that she'd love it without the oysters (which she doesn't eat). Less than 3 minutes later, the waiter dropped off a cup of the soup, without the oysters, and left! He obviously heard her, even though we hadn't noticed him, and acted on it!

And unlike a previous poster, there was no charge.

We had very good service and tasty food when we ate there.

We're vegetarian and avoid some other ingredients, and that was noted on the ADR (and after I emailed specialdiets). The chef came out before the server did, which was very cool (the speed that he came out). DH and I shared a delicious mushroom ravioli appetizer, then also shared their tofu noodle bowl entree, which they split in the kitchen. We were both STUFFED as it was so much food and it was also very very very good. The chef checked on dessert ingredients and let us know what was safe, and those were pretty good, too!

So we will be back. :)

And this time maybe DS will be less sleepy, and will actually eat his grilled cheese. :upsidedow
