Broken Ankle/Cast... Any Rides She Can't Do?

Hi! My friend's daughter just broke her ankle. They're going to Disney in three weeks and after thinking on it, they're going to go ahead and go. She has a cast on her leg (up to her knee, I think).

Are there any specific rides that she cannot do with this type of cast?

AND if she were to have a shorter cast on, would that make any difference?

They're definitely NOT riding Tower of Terror, Everest, RNR, or Kali... They have FP for 7DMT and BTMRR though.

Thanks!

I would think that any ride where the moving loading belt cannot be stopped would be a bad idea, as there might be problems getting loaded while moving. These would be Peter Pan, Haunted Mansion (although they can slow it down), Tommorrowland Transit Authority, Spaceship Earth, Primevil Whirl, and I think that is all.

Some rides with belts, such as Nemo and Buzz Lightyear can be stopped, and you can always ask the CM at the attraction for their opinion as well.

I also can't imagine that Splash Mountain would be easy to maneuver a cast around into either.

That is all I can think of for now. I have visited the parks in a walking cast and did fine on all other rides. I have also taken my very disabled mother on oxygen to the parks, and that is how I found out that a few rides with loading belts can be stopped or slowed.

Hope that helps!

Thanks, but they can stop any of the rides for transfers. I've certainly been on Haunted Mansion when it stopped for a guest! They're not doing Splash Mountain as it's down for refurb when they go.

If the cast doesn't cover the knee, the length doesn't matter.
There are some attractions that would not be possible with a long leg cast (one that covers the knee).
What will really make a difference is whether or not she can bear weight on the broken leg. It will be much more difficult if she can't bear weight.

With a wheelchair, crutches or a visible cast, she will be normally routed to the accessible boarding area of the regular one is not accessible. In that area, they can slow or stop moving walkways.
The only exceptions are Peter Pan and Tomorrowland Transit Authority (Peoplemover), which can't be slowed or stopped. Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse and Tom Sawyer's Island require guests to be ambulatory.

Some attractions will be easier to transfer to than others. Near the top of this board, there is a disABILITIES FAQs thread, which will be helpful.
