With any b/way performance, there is never a guarantee of seeing the Principals. Generally, they are on unless they are sick, etc.
If the star of the show, star, meaning their name appears outside on the theatre marquis above the show title, they you have a right to ask for a refund if the star does not perform that day. The box office knows many people ONLY attend to see that star that they paid for.
Hi Zadi!!As always I truly appreciate your input.
who can know better then a nyc resident every
thing there is to know about The Big Apple!!!!
Hey Sharon!

Do you have pics from your visit?
Sharon got to meet Billy Joel when she went to see Jersey Boys!
This is one of my few bits of trivia that I know as a NYC resident and Broadway fan. (I had also posted this on the
Criminal Minds thread a while ago.)
Here is a pic of Joe in the original production of "Speed the Plow" on Broadway in 1988. It was Madonna's scandalous Broadway debut, because she had NO theatre or Broadway training, especially the discipline required, at ALL, yet she got the part over trained Broadway actresses because she's Madonna. People wondered if she would be able to do 8 shows a week.
This is a true story. I was friends with a couple Broadway ushers back then, who watched this actual performance. I was told the story sometime later, when I learned about it and grilled them.

What happened that performance had spread throughout the Broadway community like wildfire as it affirmed Madonna's lack of professional discipline.
During one performance, Madonna simply burst out into a hysterical, uncontrollable laughing fit for a
full 5 minutes. She couldn't pull herself back together to continue.

She was on stage with Joe Mantegna. Since the lines were all Madonna's and she was in the middle of telling a story, that HAD to be finished in order for the play to go on, Joe couldn't improvise around her laughter, and carry on. All he could do was sit and stare at her for the 5 minutes

and wait for her to compose herself and carry on.
The caption under the pic above (on Joe's website) only says, "Speed the Plow on Broadway. Ron [Silver] was a great guy, he'll be missed." No mention of Madonna, at all! I think that speaks volumes.
Madonna has not been on Broadway again.
