Britney Spears suffering with PPD

I think bipolar is more a probability then PPD but I am not her Dr. I do think she is confused and self medicating. I guess I just have more hope for her then others. I think with the right care she will get it together and be a good mom. I am glad to see her family including Kfed are backing her up and being there for her.

I would not be at all surprised to hear that Britney is bipolar. She seems to self-medicate with drugs, bad friends, money, and men. I do think her current bout of misbehavior could be related to PPD, though, since her baby is less than 6 months old. If you've never experienced PPD you cannot imagine the pain. It will make you think and do things that you would never otherwise do.

PPD might be part of her problem. But I've never heard of anyone having PPD before they got pregnant! Britney's behavior was pretty much the same back when she married Jason Alexander

That's what I thought too. I suppose she really could have PPD, but I think there's a little more to it - she took her pre-pregnancy behavior and amped it up 1000 times.

Having no direct connection to all the information (I don't believe most of what I read in the mags or see on the entertainment shows), I will not judge her. I just hope she gets whatever help she needs. She grew up too fast and with too much pressure. It's sad.

She chose the life though. No one forced her to go into the business, as far as I know.

Exactly. I believe all of this probably does stem from ppd. Whatever it is, I hope she gets help and is able to recover.

Actually, I did have PPD with my son, and a much milder case with my second daughter - milder because after the horrible experience after my son's birth, my doctor put me on anti-depressants in the last month of my pregnancy. So yes, I do know the pain of suffering PPD.

But PPD is not an excuse for everything. Britney's drug and alcohol use has been mentioned too many times for me to just say "awwwww, it's PPD".

That's just the sort of thinking that keeps addicts using. Make excuses, make it not their responsibility,feel sorry for them. Don't pity the addict, pity the family members whose lives are ruined because of their selfish behavior.

Maybe, maybe not. She was a pre-teen when she got into "the business". I'm sure she thought she wanted it. Most young girls think being a star would be the most glamorous and wonderful life, but I doubt that she had a clue what it would really entail.

I've been to many an audition with my DD and not all the kids want to be there. I'm not saying that is true for Britney, but how do we know how much of it was her idea and how much was her mom convincing her this was the way to go. Don't get me wrong. I'm not bashing all "stage moms". I have always stood behind my DD's love for performing. I'm just saying we don't know what really happened.

The whole thing just makes me sad.

Ferelpeg, that's very true, but Brittany is now an adult, an adult with children noless. She could have walked away a long time ago.
