Britney may be suffering from a severe form of Postpartum Depression.

Pop Tarts: Britney Spears' Troubles Might Be Rooted in Postpartum Depression

Troubled Britney Spears' wild antics may be rooted in postpartum depression, which doctors believe she's suffering from.

Citing unidentified sources, doctors at Brit's rehab clinic think the underlying cause of her recent out-of-control behavior — which culminated with the bald pop princess' attack on an SUV with an umbrella — could be postpartum depression or possibly bipolar disorder.

They "strongly believe" the former is the problem, TMZ.com reported.

Doctors theorize that binge drinking is Britney's way of dealing with the larger issue, according to TMZ.com, though one source tells the site: "No doubt about it — she likes to drink."

Us Weekly is reporting in its current issue that no one can get through to Spears these days. Quoting insiders and ex-staffers, Us says Brit is suffering not only from drug and alcohol addiction but also from self-hatred and loneliness.

That jives with what TMZ.com reports Spears' doctors are saying — that the pop tart feels as though she's lost control of her life.

Spears seems to be sticking with rehab at the exclusive Promises facility in Malibu this third time around and is reading Brooke Shields' "Down Came the Rain," according to TMZ.com, in which Shields writes about her own struggles with postpartum depression.

Naughty boy Daniel Baldwin claims to have run into the starlet at Promises and says she is on her road to recovery, he told Us Weekly.

She “looks great” and is “doing great,” Us quoted him as saying.

Meanwhile, K-Fed sure is playing his cards right, visiting his estranged wife in rehab, U.K.'s Sunday Mirror reported.

Federline went to see Brit on Friday. The “rapper” is lying low in hopes of securing full custody of their children, 18-month-old Sean Preston and 5-month-old Jayden James, according to the paper.

On Saturday night, Brit's mom, Lynne, came with the two kids in tow, Us Weekly reported.

Our local radio show was talking about the article this morning. They said they felt that Brit was suffering more from "Post-Party Syndrome".

Whatever spin they have to put on it to make her behavior seem excusable. It still doesn't account for the accounts of her drug use and wild behavior before she had kids.

I guess Federline's motivation is child support. Why else would he want them? Other than trying to "rehab" his image, he's not the most stellar of fathers.

I personally don't think she has PPD. I think she's a very confused, very lonely, very impressionable, very hurt young woman.

Then again, what do I know?:surfweb:

Yeah, I guess post-partum depression sounds more sympathetic than "hooked on coke, ecstacy, Valium and Vicodin" . And that's just one of her party pals' inventory of her weekend intake.

I really have to wonder if her children were born healthy. I can't imagine that she was able to stop using while she was pregnant.

PPD might be part of her problem. But I've never heard of anyone having PPD before they got pregnant! Britney's behavior was pretty much the same back when she married Jason Alexander

I suspect she probably is, as well as a couple of drug and alcohol addictions.

Girl is not too rational these days.

I said in a thread last week that I think it is PPD. I think she is trying to self medicate herself to feel better. As for those that say she was acting like this before she had kids- I dont think it was nearly to this extent. She was wild and young with money, but she wasnt crazy.

Well she was staying out late, partying constantly, using drugs, throwing up in public, having sex in public, and marrying guys for 55 hours. Sounds about the same to me!

You know, at first I thought the same thing, but after :surfweb: alot---

From what Shar Jackson says, he is a very good father. Spends time w/ the kids, and provides for their needs.

If anyone has a right to dog him, she does, and she hasn't. That says alot IMO.

Maybe he doesn't want his kids raised by a person who is more concerned w/ paryting than caring for them.

If she truely has PPD- The kids are safer away from her until she is treated.

I just have such a hard time with him leaving her (Shar) when she was so very pregnant with their last child. To me, that is not what a good father does.

I do remember that when he and Britney first got together, they were photographed a lot with his children, and then once Britney gave birth, you never saw that anymore.

The whole thing is sad. No matter what is going on (or not going on) inside Britney's head, those poor children are suffering because of it. :sad2:

I totally agree, she had many issues beforehand.

It is possible that she has had emotional issues for many, many years. Adolescence is a vulnerable time and her teen years weren't "normal" by any stretch. Having two babies so close together couldn't have helped either. If she does in fact have post-partum depression, it shouldn't be a big surprise. Hopefully she will accept the help she is getting before she self-destructs completely.

Whatever it is I just feel so sad for her and her kids. I just hope she gets the help she needs.

brits a mess no doubt but when they were married Kfed was NEVER home always out drinking partying smoking weed and spending her $$
only after she booted him did he stop going out cuz he wants her $$ im not saying he doesnt love his kids but he has 2 other kids and didnt fight shar jackson for custody cuz she has no $$
they should split custody and he gets no $$

i think she feels betrayed from what i have been reading by all the men in her life have wronged her in some way
i mean kfed was selling info about her to the tabs when they were still married for $$ who does that
and her family seems to use her as a meal ticket for houses, her sisters career on nick, everything
they should have stepped in sooner

Didn't she keep Jayden hidden for several months after he was born? Maybe he was going through withdrawl :confused3 . Those poor kids.

I really think Federline gets a bum rap when it comes to the custody issue. Britney and Shar are nothing alike and I'm not just talking about $$. Maybe he didn't feel like he needed to fight Shar for custody because they were able to work out an arrangement without going to court. He apparently sees the kids anytime he wants (including Holidays) and pays for their private school. And there is also the fact that Shar doesn't seem to endanger her kids weekly.
