Brit Guide to Disneyland Paris

I bought the 2010-2011 version of the Brit Guide for our trip in March 2011 and it was great. There was nothing I couldn't have found out on here really, but it was lovely to be able to sit and have a read, and handy to flick through in the evenings at the hotel when the kids were asleep, making plans for the following day. So my question is, is it worth buying the newer version for our trip next month or will last year's one suffice? Obviously it won't have anything about Dreams in it but I don't really want to spend a tenner if there are only going to be a few pages of new content. Thanks in advance!

I agree in the past I've bought subsequent copies for both DLP and WDW and found that they hadn't really changed that much so I don't bother any more. I think they're really aimed at the first timer rather than a repeat visitor.

p.s. You could always pop along to your local WH Smiths or Waterstones to have a sneaky peek!

I recently got a copy of the 2012 version as a gift for a friend who is going for the first time.

Only new bits I spotted during a quick flick through was a section on Toy Story Payland. The refurbishment of the Sequoia Lodge hotel and the cars theming of the Santa Fe hotel. A very short mention of the 20th, Dreams and the World of Disney Store. Plus the bit on Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show had been updated to include Mickey and friends.

I'm curious as to the name of this book? I've bought various books in the past for WDW and DL and have always found them helpful....and since this is our first trip to DLP, is the book worth the purchase?

And I'd have to order it online I imagine, any idea where I could see it? TIA!

I agree Brits guide is good for first timers only. I used it on our first trip and it was helpful. However for my third trip I bought Unnofficial guide to Disneyland Paris and because of it our trip was a lot more magical and stress- free.

Yes, I think it's worth it. I really enjoyed reading mine. I got mine from Amazon I'm afraid so can't help about real life shops. They may have a 'see inside' option though!

You could take a look at it online. There are some chapters to read and those are really helpful too.

Is there any reason a non-Brit could not use this book?

We are planning a surprise trip to DLP after or TA cruise next May. I want to give the book to my mom as a the "reveal."

But we're not Britsh.

Had a lovely time in the UK this past summer though.

I have both versions of the book and i wouldnt have really missed out using the old version, it's just slightly reworded and new pictures! All the same info x

I've got both the Brits Guide and the Unofficial Guide. I picked up the Brits purely because it was likely to be more up to date with regards to things like the 20th anniversary celebrations, Dreams etc, but the content on that was quite minimal.

Brits guide has plenty of pictures which were good for looking through with DD2 which we can't do with the Unofficial Guide, but that said the photos in Brits Guide aren't going to win any awards for photography.

As has already been said if you plan to eat at Planet Hollywood you may as well pick up the Brits Guide anyway as it will pay for itself with the discount.

I picked up my Unofficial Guide off eBay and with postage it only cost me £4 so have a look there. For me the Unofficial Guide is a better read to get me in the mood for Disney but then I have been reading them for WDW for years before (and the author even bought me a beer in Epcot so maybe I am biased!)

It was published 2010 I think so is a little bit old but the information isn't really dated. I'm only half way through but some bits they haven't got right, i.e. saying you can't get room only rates for Disney hotels, but they possibly had trouble being USA based finding that out? If you are unfamiliar with the Unofficial Guides they feature heavily on the touring plans which if that isn't your style I think some people find a real turn off to the book, but unlike the WDW editions, they do say if you go off season you don't need to use a plan.

One thing I think all guidebooks lack is any decent information on the restaurants, they tend to rely on sending you to websites such DLRPmagic.
