We going from Toronto - Belfast and traveling throughout the country for 4 weeks. I can't wait! It will be great to take the family to see my native country and will give me a chance to recharge. I haven't been back since my granny's funeral about 11 years ago - so I've really missed it.

It's a big trip. My mum is paying for us all to stay together in four cottages over four weeks (in four very different areas). We get a chance to be tourists which we've never done before. All other visits were spent visiting family (we're a bit worried they'll be ticked we don't spend all our time with them - we probably won't be in Belfast for more than a day that they'll know about!)

We're starting to look now at car rentals and WOW it's expensive. We also have 2 nights at the beginning and 1 at the end that we'll need to find accommodation - what's our best bet price wise? B&B or hotel? I'm with my two kids and then my mum & dad and then my brother so we're looking at 3 rooms anywhere we go.

If any of you have any tips or recommendations I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks - I went on that site and realized I needed discovernorthernireland which turned out to have a few that were reasonably priced.
I am finding rental car prices are quite high. Are there any companies that we aren't familiar with here that you can recommend? I see that Alamo is at the Belfast airport but I'm not aware of the other companies there. I'm looking to drive an automatic so I wonder if that is going to limit me...
I also realize you're probably all in bed right now so I'll hope to see lots of advice in the morning!
Thanks!

http://http://www.belfastairport.com/en/content.asp?area=2&id=186 This link gives you the 5 car hire companies available from Belfast International Airport. I've only ever used National as my company has a deal with them, never had any issues but see who will give you the best deal.

Checking with the tourist board would probably be best for finding b&b's etc, not used any for a long time myself. :confused3

Edit... looks like the link won't work properly, if you google for Belfast International Airport and follow the links for getting to and from the airport and then car hire you will get the info you need. :)

most car hires here are manual and automatic are always more
and make sure that you are covered to drive in the south of Ireland too
I think most of the main carhire company are at the airport
