Bringing non-allowed alcohol on board?

Is it possible to purchase alcohol (the hard stuff that I know you can't carry onto the ship) before the cruise and have them hold it for you until the end?

The question came up about our upcoming WBTA (we're going to be in Scotland beforehand) and I feel like the policies are vague on this question.

Obviously if I purchase it in a port, they will hold it until the end of the cruise, but can I give it to them before we set sail? They must know that people are traveling before hand (I think I've heard of people having to hand over their lightsabers after a WDW trip).

It's not really a big deal to me, not only would I not drink anything I bought anyway, I wouldn't buy anything more than an airplane sized bottle or two, and I can find other gifts, it's just bothering me that I can't find an answer either way.

My best guess from my research is that it used to be possible, but has since been discontinued, though I bow to the DCL Experts here and I suspect it might be one of those...it depends on the day things. I doubt I'll try it.

I have no experience with this, but I've read that any "confiscated" items at embarkation will be held for pick up after the cruise AT THE PORT, not onboard. I'm not certain that storage for such items would be ideal (heat/cold, whatever) would be optimal.

Actually, the DCL alcohol policy specifies that beverages confiscated at embarkation will NOT be returned and are subsequently destroyed. Now, being WBTA, I don't know if that makes any difference. But the policy says "no" to your question. I would only "test" the policy if you are willing to lose the item.
