bringing kids to ressie signups? (and more)

I assume it's ok to bring your children to the sign-ups? Dh and I will split up for Palo/spa and we'll each take a child. It's ok to have them while standing in line right? We're bribing them with an early visit to Mickey's Pool (we'll bring our suits in our carry-ons)

Miscellaneous other questions:

1) when do we receive our dining rotation? With the documents or when we check in? Can our TA (DU) check for us a week or two in advance if it's during check in?

2) Which night (once and for all) is the show at AP? I've read first time many times, but lately it seems to be the 2nd time you visit.

THANKS!

I brought along my DS6 during my (unecessary) sprint to make Palo ressies, and we all went to the Spa. While YMMV, there were no lines in either.

1) While our experience seems to be unusual, we didn't find out our rotation until we got to our stateroom (most folks seem to have the code printed on the KTTW card they receive at checkin). We kind of worked out contingencies for each possible rotation, but in retrospect it was one of the areas where we overplanned.

2) I can only say what happens on the 4-day, but if you get a rotation that repeats AP, the "light show" is on the first time you're in there. I can't remember anyone else saying that they do it during the 2nd time.

On the 7-night Eastern... the light show is when you get Animator's Palate on either Saturday, Monday, or Wednesday.

On the 7-night Western... the light show is when you get Animator's Palate on either Saturday, Sunday, or Monday.

thanks!

I will be overplanning too - each rotation figured with each excursion day and/or when we want spa/Palos. I'll have to make a cheat sheet for dh (who will be hopelessly lost) and we'll have our cellphones (which should still work while at port right?) so if there's a change due to a time being unavailable we can have a backup plan

Anal, I know... You should see my house

Masonpips,

One recommendation - go to make your reservations in advance of the time listed in the Navigator. On a whim, I went to the Spa to make our Suriel Bath reservations easily 45 minutes before the posted time. Sure enough, there were two spa attendants sitting at a table next to the forward elevators just outside the spa doors. No problem getting the times my DW and I wanted.

A half hour later, it was a mob scene.

Masonpips, the cellphones do seem to work in port. But, what we found valuable were those little 2-way radios. They're darn near worthless in the parks (where everybody seems to have them), but we were always able to find a free channel to use on board.

stormkrow, you are absolutely right. I just re-read my earlier post and it seems to imply that you don't need to be there on time to make ressies. You do! (and earlier is probably better). But the big mob always seems to show up about a 1/2-hour to hour later (the same is true for just about everything Disney).

What I meant to imply is that you don't have to claw your way up the gangway and run over the families waiting for "Welcome Aboard" photos to be first in line for Palos (although those might make for some interesting pictures).
